Who is online - Counting wrong

This is what the counter says on my phpBB 3.3.2:

In total there are 12 users online :: 1 registered, 0 hidden and 11 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)

Registered users: No registered users

---

It always adds 1 registered user to the count, but no registered users are online. I have tried to purge sessions, clear cookies etc. but this problem remains. On the "viewonline.php" page it shows up the numbers correctly though.

Any clues?

two things. the stats are not real time. they are only refreshed every five minutes.
and secondly, if you are logged in at the time you are looking at the stats, that makes one registered user online.

Yeah, I know it's not real time, but there's something strange really. There is *always* 1 extra online user counted, regardless of when I check the stats, while the "viewonline.php" page always shows the correct number.

Don't forget that Bots are counted as users
