Well.. i guess it depends on what was corrupted during that installation. Like i said, if db is not corrupted, then files should be checked.

The screenshot only shows ACP modules - you need to go down a few pages to find UCP modules

Thanks for that I'd missed it was a multi page display.

A zipped copy of the dumped 'phpbb_modules' table can be found on Dropbox here.

Looking at it, it looks like the following may be duplicated:

ACP_USERS_PERMISSIONS
ACP_USERS_FORUM_PERMISSIONS
ACP_GROUPS_PERMISSIONS
ACP_GROUPS_FORUM_PERMISSIONS

Or is this data duplicated in your systems and is therefore valid? Do you think I'm safe to delete the duplicates of those lines?

Not quite - you are looking at the wrong modules. You need to be looking at the modules that start UCP_ and from that dump I can see that all of the ucp modules (not module categories) are duplicated.

Removing them however is not that easy due to the way that they are linked.

Have you looked in ACP > System > Module Management > User control panel to see if you can delete them from there as that is a much safer way than editing the database directly.

David you are a star!

I'd looked at 'ACP > System > Module Management > User control panel' before but not gone deep enough into the settings.

As you can see I've now gone into the deeper level and have turned off (safer for now) the duplicate entries.

That has fixed the duplicates completely. :)

If everything is working OK then I would delete those duplicates via ACP after having made a backup of the database first. (I know from experience that getting this wrong is not the easiest to recover from!)

Yep I've already made a note to do exactly that. I'm playing it very carefully though and leaving them disabled for a few days just in case there are any unexpected side effects.

Alas it looks like no duplicates in there:
You need to scroll down to the UCP ones.
