That's exactly I wrote first step
I did follow those links a couple of times, something is not working. I assume that the process is described from someone who jumps steps or think that some steps are selfunderstood. which are not.
The phpbb is a great thing, the links with explanations not so great.

so once again, what would be the very first step?
Making a database backup (and testing it).
The documents are more than clear enough.
Install a personal webserver on your PC (I suggest USBWebserver as it's the easiest) and play around with it (at no risk to your live board).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

I see your point but no, the documents aren't clear at all
and regarding installing an webserver I think you are joking. It's like me saying interpret this ultrasound study. for me- very basic. for you - chinese language.
If you don't want to help it's ok, but please give me a break with those links.
Copy your files in cpanel on your host.
copy your database in phpmyadmin
edit config.php in the copied version and you have a working and tested backup.
(but I know not on every host it is so simple )

Perhaps if you were to make an effort to search the internet for USBWebserver (or XAMPP, WAMP, EasyPHP -these are slightly more complicated) and read the documentation (quite concise/simple to put it mildly), you'ld realise it isn't rocketscience.
There's only so many times we can repeat what has been said already.
You want to run a board? Get familiar with the concept of databases, tables, prefixes, the entries in the config.php, etc...
Actually I know a lot more about ultrasound image interpretation than I do about Chinese, but that's completely irrelevant.

what dou mean "files"?
all the folders? or just the folder named files?
This is ridiculous (and nitpicking)
OK: what janus_zonstraal means is the phpBB directories(including files) and the root files, i.o.w. the whole phpBB fileset.
Good luck.

If I search on internet I find a lot of forums like this where some smart guys instead of explaining are sending me at google.
I want to run a board without being an expert in DB. I really don't see your point, if you don't want to help just ignore this topic
This is becoming one of the longest support threads I've seen on this site. I don't think that there is any substantial headway being made. This is not a criticism of the original poster, but frankly, we could cut out page 2 through 4 of this 5 page thread and we are no closer to a resolution. I think it may be difficult to guide somebody through the process when basic terms and concepts that are fundamental for managing software are not grasped. Again, I am not trying to be mean or critical,.. just yesterday I had to show my mom how to make letters on her phone be capital. I could spend a month trying to instruct her how to install phpBB but she would never get it. You can be smart but simply not get the fundamentals. Without those basic concepts, there is little point in referring people to guides or talking about database management.
Maybe this thread should be locked. When OP figures out what "copy your server files" mean and completes the KB articles that explicitly walk one through how to transfer a board,... AND IF THEN there are issues we can perhaps reopen it?
If this post sounds offensive (which it is absolutely not meant to be), please remove it and I apologize.

I think you are unnecessary rude.
as long I have files and and a folder explicitly named "files" I think my question was justified.
I read all the articles, there is some point where it is not clear.
Make a new database and copy your database into the new one.
Normally you can make a new database with cpanel and copy the old one to the new one with phpmyadmin.
