They wouldn't be in the recipient's spam folder if they were blocked by the mail sending server.
I just checked the email setting in the ACP and saw this:
Email package size:
This is the number of maximum emails sent out in one package. This setting is applied to the internal message queue; set this value to 0 if you have problems with non-delivered notification emails.
The value had been set to 20, i changed it to 0 and I think the problem is fixed.
I did a little testing and it seems good, I need to check with some other people though.
