Experienced with PHP and phpBB What actions did you take (updating your board; installing a MOD, style or extension; etc.) prior to this problem becoming noticeable? Updated board from older 3.0.x version to 3.3.4 version per instructions on this site. Prior to doing so, I also ran "Database clean up" from the STK as I had a heavily customized board. Please describe your problem. Upgrade seemed to go well. I can see everything in ACP, including all the fora. However, when viewing board index, I am seeing the message, "This board has no forums." I realize that there is a new/different permission structure, so I have gone through that and set the admin group (me) with full access to all fora and categories in a way that seemed obvious, same message. Again, in ACP, I can see all the fora, and all the stats seem correct as far as number of posts and topics, etc., yet still can't see anything on board index.
Perhaps of note - I saw this same message after running "Database clean up" prior to upgrading. I thought the upgrade might fix the issue, and if not, I could address once things were updated. But having some difficulty doing so. Any suggestions? Generated by SRT Generator

Reason:Topic icon changed
Check your groups and permissions (roles) for this groups. You need to sort this again after such an big upgrade.
My 2 cents: Whether an extension is in the CDB says nothing about its quality. It is more important to read the support topics for it. Better to avoid authors who do not answer support questions themselves, who do not update their stuff, and who do not fix bugs for years.
Administrators group user permissions = all YES
Administrators group forum permissions = Full Access
however, couple weird things:
1) Permission masks --> view administrative permissions = all are "Never"
2) Global permissions --> Administrators = "Users" and "Groups" boxes are empty. If I click "Administrators" under "Add groups" and click "Add permissions", "Role" reads "Forum admin".

Admin permissions just get you in to the admin panel. They have nothing to do with being able to see forums and make posts.
permissions
groups forum permissions
registered users
select one category and a forum in it
standard access.
See if that works first.
thanks for looking. yeah i also did that. one category and all subfora = standard access for registered users and full access for administrators. same result.
Under "Permission Masks" --> View forum-based permissions, select the category + subfora, the only group in the "Groups/Manage Groups" box is "Newly registered users". If I "Look up usergroup" --> "Registered users", everything is "Never". That seems contradictory to the permissions I have set. Unsure how to proceed.
admin panel
permissions
at the bottom of the menu are the mask options.
If you choose forum based permissions and then on the next screen select a forum that you cannot post in and then enter your username in the bottom left box on the next screen you'll get your permissions for that forum.
On the left of the line for 'can see forum' (which probably has a red box on it) you can click the O-> icon and it will show you the groups you're in and where the block permission is coming from.
You can post a screenshot of the pop up window here and we can interpret it for you if you can't.

I am in Administrators (default group), Registered Users, and House Atreides groups.
Permissions --> Group forum permissions for the category and subfora being discussed are:
Administrators = full access
Registered users = standard access
House Atreides = standard access + polls
however, permission mask (forum-based permissions) for each group shows all never. hence this post. something is amiss.

What version of php is the server running? (it's listed in the stats when you enter the admin panel)
Does the member total in the registered users group match the total number of accounts on the site?
Try taking yourself out and then putting yourself back in that group again.

currently running 7.3.30. i can change this to whatever. was on 5.4 i believe prior to upgrade, switched to 7.3.30 for upgrade.
number of accounts seems accurate, at a glance.
i removed myself from registered users and re-added. permissions trace looks exactly the same, registered users still not appearing and i still cannot see fora.
