3.3.5 Can't move messages to another topic

Post by gjyqi »

Good time of a day!

In phpBB 3.3.5 I can't move messages via MCP. After I go from topic to MCP I see 'Move Posts" tab, but when I click "Select topic" I got "MCP forum view", not topics list. Link on "Select topic" looks like https://site.com/mcp.php?&t=2766&i=main ... rge_select. I can't find action case merge_select in mcp.php. My account has Administrator rights.

Moving posts is a forum Moderative permission.
The link you posted doesn't produce anything useable.

Have a look at Moving a single post?.
It contains some printscreens which should help.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

A group cannot be a member of a group. Is your account a member of the Global moderators group?

It's not clear to me whether you are now able to move posts.
If not, please read the topic I linked to. The printscreens provided by P_I show how to select the forum, and then the topic to which you want to move selected posts to. (Basically it allows you to get the topic_id which is what you need).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Thanks for the link. After clicking the "Select topic", I get to the page in the my third screenshot, and not to the list of forums and topics like P_I.

There is "Move posts" permission?

No, there's no specific move posts permissions but AFAIR you need can split topics/can merge topics permissions for the affected forums.

Use the permission mask on your username: if you have a NEVER somewhere, then it will override any YES from another group for that feature. (e.g. If the Registered User Group, of which you are a member, has a NEVER ... that feature will have a resulting total permission of NO).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

That "Main" on that image should only be if you are on the left-hand "Front Page" tab, not the "View Forum" tab. Do you have a "Moderate Forum" dropdown in the upper-right to select a forum?

Sometimes I'm surprised that this wasn't officially stated as one of the various problems with phpBB 3.3.5 and in any case fixed with 3.3.6. A simple search (for those who don't follow github) would have sufficed.
