Migrating phpBB installation from Xampp to C-panel

Post by Baroche »

Hello All

Please can someone provide me with advice. I installed Xampp on my pc to work locally and have successfully installed phpBB3 and built up the desired forum complete with installed Style Themes and Several Extensions. Ideally, I would prefer to port the entire installation to a live server without re-installing from scratch.

What would you recommend in migrating my forum from Xampp to an online (c-Panel) environment?

Should I simply begin afresh installing on the new c-Panel platform, or can I FTP the entire directory to the requisite folder online, replicate the database naming and then export the local MySQL database to the cloud? I once built an entire website with PHP, but that was years ago and I can't remember most of what I learnt.

Is there a tutorial on how to do this and potential pitfalls to avoid?

Thanks
