Having a question about translating phpBB 3.3? Want to discuss and collaborate with people currently translating phpBB 3.3? Here would be the correct place to do so.
Hello, everyone. Minor issue with translation...I am running 3.3.0 and have installed French Language Pack 4.0.0, which is the indicated version for 3.3.0. Installation was normal; no errors noted. The intent was to create a single forum for French-speaking users, so I did not invoke French as the language for the site.
I had a test user choose French in the UCP. The user's UCP, FAQ pages, ACP (when given administrator rights), and MCP were all translated properly. The board index page has nothing translated; everything remains in English. Viewing a forum - and viewing a topic - has some items translated and some not; for example, forum permissions at the bottom are entitled "Permissions du Forum", but underneath is in English: "You can post new topics in this forum", and so on.
A quick perusal of the variables in the language pack shows that all appear to be present and defined correctly.
I then went to ACP > General > Board Settings with an administrator account and chose French as the default language. All pages, including the board index, display properly in French.
I have also tested on a separate board administered by an acquaintance where I changed from British English to another language he had installed, Polish. All pages translated correctly.
There is an extension called Forum Language which I could use; however, I would like my French-speaking users not to have to navigate English in order to get there.
Any insights on this matter?

I can see a mix of languages. I wonder if one of your extensions, such as profile flair, is loading common.php before the user's language is determined.

Would that be consistent with the behavior seen when the language pack is enabled as the default? I'm not certain of the order in which the files are loaded.
