might help if you gave us a link to where we can see this style. ( In phpBB they are called styles, not themes. )

Yep it's a 3.0 style so it won't work. You need to ask for a refund.

What is de-updating a phpbb?
If you mean restoring your board to phpBB 3.0.x >>> the restore your backup - you cannot simply modify a 3.3 database back to 3.0

or, you could do the smart thing and take your $19 loss and install a style that is up to date with phpBB.

Why considered a version that long ago reached end-of-life?

The two styles are dramatically different in several obvious respects.
Quantive is actually quite an interesting design that I hadn't seen before, and very well executed.
Although, I do agree that unless the OP is up to doing the relevant coding themselves they would be better off installing a working 3.3. style, and Prosilver Dark is one of the better ones.
