Thanks for reporting! This has already been noticed and will be addressed in 1.0.3 (solution is tested right now and works fine thus far)!

How about a Client-side date check to see if the user is in DST and update their setting then? I seem to recall an old mod that did that.

I haven't checked yet, just off the top of my head, does phpinfo have a value that shows browser's DST?

But, I still see the need for a server-side changer for the board default.

Version 1.0.3 [ Download ]
  • Improved compatibility
Allows users to choose Daylight Savings Time (DST) automatically instead of having to set it twice a year. The basis for this adjustment are the web server's time settings.

Visitors will be affected by the setup of the guest account. Newly registering users will inherit the DST option in the board settings should they live in the board's native time zone.

Heck, I think I just installed v.1.0.2 yesterday, and we don't go off of DST until this weekend.

Those three replace actions will neither adjust the DST setting for every date that is displayed nor will they change language strings. Validated "Automatic DST" 1.0.1 uses the same amount of edit actions and is guaranteed to work.
Your MOD is probably better... ;) Actually, it was hard to tell for me, because I couldn't find your code in the zip-file among all xml-files. I guess that's the way mods are distributed.

But just of curiosity: what other dates are displayed in the forum, do you mean?

And sorry for being an amateur... But why are language strings involved in this?

Sorry for the late answer, the broken forum search is gettin' on me nerves here...

Yes, it's called ModX.

Every date could be checked if it's in the DST period of the year - my mod does just that.

Because of the new functionality you should change the user preferences string from "Enable DST" to "Enable Automatic DST".

I have no "auto" option within my ACP, did I miss a file somewhere?

It should be in the "Board Settings" section and in the user preferences section.

Would this be better than just creating a linux script that runs every DST period, which changes them all in the sql database?

Depends. Are all your users from the same region? Then that solution would probably be easier.

The code in session.php was changed with the update to 3.0.4. Particularly the "if (midnight)" section now looks different, so I'm not sure how safe it is to replace it with the old code. Waiting for the quick fix for this mod. :)
