Are you logged in as a moderator or administrator? They still get the button.

No, I logged in as an ordinary member and also tried logged out.

PS: I just realised that as a guest, I actually do see the "New Topic" button in a locked forum which I dont see if logged in as a user (not mod or admin). Is that normal?

After further testing, I guess your mod works ok.

When I referred to a 'locked forum' I should have referred to forum permission set to read only. I found out that (even without your modification) when you are not logged in to a forum that has 'read only' for both guests and members, you actually see the 'new topic' button in the forum view and 'post reply' button in the topic view. When logged in as a member, you dont see these 2 buttons anymore.

With your mod, the 'new topic' button shows in topic view to a guest but not a registered member.

I understand what you're saying, and that's not normal. I'll work on that.

Does this mean phpBB3 is not working right too?

Hi,

What's the status now? Has the bug been corrected?

Thanks.

Don't want to be rude but I don't think this mod works as expected. Anyway, here's a quick fix (lol I was just thinking of making another mod :lol: )

Open: viewtopic.php
Find:

Code: Select all

'S_IS_LOCKED'			=>($topic_data['topic_status'] == ITEM_UNLOCKED) ? false : true,
Add After:

Code: Select all

'S_IS_FORUM_LOCKED'		=>($topic_data['forum_status'] == ITEM_UNLOCKED) ? false : true,
Open viewtopic_body.html
Find:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF S_IS_LOCKED -->{L_TOPIC_LOCKED_SHORT}<!-- ELSE -->{L_POST_REPLY}<!-- ENDIF --></a></div><!-- ENDIF -->
Add After:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF not S_IS_BOT and S_DISPLAY_POST_INFO --><!-- IF not S_IS_FORUM_LOCKED or U_MCP --><div class="post-icon"><a href="{U_POST_NEW_TOPIC}" title="{L_POST_TOPIC}"><span></span>{L_POST_TOPIC}</a></div><!-- ENDIF --><!-- ENDIF -->
--> Do this 1 more time.

This is tested but of course, not validated :lol:

Work as expected:
1. Admin / Mods always have new topic button.
2. Guest / Users can only see button if forum is not locked.

Demo on my forum, you can pay a visit if you want =]. There's a locked forum called Live News.

Enjoy hehe.

Yes it does. However this is a quick fix and does not relate to the author of this mod.
