Fridge wrote:@cherokee red, with your permission i'm putting my subsilver edits in this topic because i can't edit them anymore in the dev topic. Made some changes so the bar does not show when there are no links in the redbar and add a little css to get control over the bar

Then make a new html file, call it redbar.html and past within:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF .redbar -->
   <table class="tablebg" width="100%" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0" style="margin-top: 10px;">
   <tr>
      <td class="row1">
         <p class="redbar"><!-- BEGIN redbar --><a href="{redbar.U_REDBAR_URL}" onclick="window.open(this.href); return false;" style="color: #{redbar.REDBAR_COLOUR};" title="{redbar.REDBAR_NAME}">{redbar.REDBAR_NAME}</a><!-- IF redbar.S_LAST_ROW -->&nbsp;<!-- ELSE --> &nbsp; <strong>&#8249;</strong> &nbsp; <!-- ENDIF --><!-- END redbar --></p>
      </td>
   </tr>
   </table>
In which folder to put this redbar.html file ?

does this edit go in stylesheet.css too ?

No, that goes in what ever template file you want the redbar to show up in - header, fotter, index, etc . . . :)

Edit the CSS code ad add in a background color or image:

Code: Select all

.redbar {
   margin: 0;
   text-align:center;
   font-weight: bold;
   font-size: 1.1em;
   background-color: #FF0000;
}
If you search google, there are lots of tutorials on how to do this, or look at some of the other CSS code in your stylesheet file and see how it's done :)

By default in phpBB3, all links should open in the same window - partly due to XHTML strict compliance. If they don't for you, you may have in stalled a MOD or followed this instruction - http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/links-o ... w-windows/ On my demo site, all links open in the same window :)

a MOD may have done it, but i didn't follow that instruction .

Which MOD could have done it ?

Is there a way to edit some file and make them open in the same window again ?

CSS is actually very simple. If you use firefox, read up on the Firebug add-on. i find it very useful :)
As for the links problem, I'm really not sure. I leave all my links the way they are and let the users decide what to do. If there is a MOD that does it, it may be on this site. I can't help for your last question sorry - I don't know :)

Hello

I installed the RedBar, and it didn't work. Now I want to uninstall it, what do I have to do, to undo the database changes?

Drop the redbar table from your database and remove the acl_a_redbar row from the acl_options table

Links not opening in the same tab

My forum is here

http://alienbabeltech.com/abt/index.php

I installed the RedBar MOD. and put 2 links in it.

Now the problem is that the links open in a new tab, But I want them to open in the same tab.

The MOD's author says, that it's not related to his MOD, but to some other MOD.

Is there anyway I can edit some code and make the links open in the same tab ?

Ok , I think I got it how to add the image , like this

background-image: url('./images/ImageName.gif'); ?

What are the good dimensions of the image ?

One more thing, the background colour code also worked . But the problem is that there is margin around the green background colour like in the image
