Thank you very much... Now is there a way to make the Links look more like "buttons" rather than links? See the forum I wrote 2 messages up. I want a navigation similar to that!

Im going nuts here. I have downloaded your Redbar3 for 3.03 and all I see for instructions in install_localised_links.xml is to add 3 files, and to edit two. This is not even clear. I have searched all of your phpBB.com/community and your php. I feel I have been spinning my wheels here for 3 hours now...

When I get to editing includes/functions.php I can not even find "redbar" at all in the file. I have read some of and searched your http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=1098195 forum and can find nothing of relevence to includes/functions.php.

Im so confused. I see no references to database mods or nothing.

I really want to use this mod but I am feeling stupid here. Can you PLEASE send me correct instructions to installing this mod?

Confused.

Robert

You don't need to follow install_localised_links.xml, just follow install.xml and it should work out well.

I feel stupid that I didnt see that file... Oh well..

I just went through it all and I am having trouble with using a different theme. Im using a theme based on the subsilver theme.

Code: Select all

/*
	phpBB 3.0 Style Sheet
	--------------------------------------------------------------
	Style name:				Milky Way
	Based on style: subSilver (the default phpBB 2 style)
	Original author:	subBlue ( http://www.subBlue.com/ )
	Modified by:			Mighty Gorgon ( http://www.icyphoenix.com )

	Copyright 2006 phpBB Group ( http://www.phpbb.com/ )
	--------------------------------------------------------------
*/
Heres where I am stuck at the moment:
Files to Edit:

Code: Select all

# styles/prosilver/template/overall_footer.html,
# styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.html,
I feel that I have gotten through the header and footer pages and correctly installed the <div> tags even though the "class=navbar" was not in this theme's structure.

Code: Select all

# styles/prosilver/theme/colours.css,
# styles/prosilver/theme/common.css
my theme uses:
# milky_way/theme/fap.css,
# milky_way/theme/stylesheet.css,
and I dont know where to put the appropriate info.

I also know that the Database is correctly configured, as well as all the other pages.
I also did the DIY instructions but have not yet seen the RedBar tab though I have not cleared the cache yet.

Please advise.

			'REDBAR_NAME'		=> $row['redbar_name'],
			'REDBAR_COLOUR'		=> $redbar_colour,
 			'U_REDBAR_URL'		=> append_sid("{$row['redbar_url']}"),	));
append_sid("{$row['redbar_url']}")

Only really need that if you intend to use internal links, but I have had no issues using internal links without that addition - I still keep all me sessions. You don't need to append_sid an external link like google.co.uk

@fasko - sorry, I don't support subSilver2 or based styles. The best advice I can offer is to follow this post.

Nope. I actually don't have any plans to develop any of my MODs any further for the time being

Hello,

I am installing this mod for someone, and the links show fine and everything, but the links do not show in color at all even though they are set in the ACP. I've installed this mod before and did not have any troubles.

The style I am using is RedSilver (subSilver2 based)

EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed it.

@fasco: Try the following and see if it works for you, as it worked for me:

Assuming you are doing the subsilver2 work-around posted:

in redbar.html find

Code: Select all

<a href="{redbar.U_REDBAR_URL}" onclick="window.open(this.href); return false;" style="color: #{redbar.REDBAR_COLOUR};" title="{redbar.REDBAR_NAME}">{redbar.REDBAR_NAME}</a>
(might not be exact, but basically are looking for the URL code)

REPLACE with:

Code: Select all

<a href="{redbar.U_REDBAR_URL}" {redbar.REDBAR_COLOUR} title="{redbar.REDBAR_NAME}">{redbar.REDBAR_NAME}</a>
This is the URL code from the prosilver redbar code actually

RedBar³ is a superb MOD to have for any phpBB3 site

when it's enstalled the fabulous control you have over your links as Admin, is something you never want to lose
cherokee red wrote: Go to your ACP -> System -> Module Management :: Administration Control Panel.
At the botom of that page, type RedBar in the text box and then click "Create New Module"
Under module enabled, select "yes" and click submit.
Click in the module you just created.

Now, next to the "Add Module" button, click the dropdown and look for/select "RedBar³ Configuration"
Now click "Add Module" and Yes on the confirmation screen.
Click enable to enable the module.
Refresh the page - you might need to purge your cache / empty your temp files, but an extra tab should be available now.
You will also have to set permissions for who can manage the links.
This is done in the ACP: Users & Groups - Groups Permissions - Select Group - Admin Permissions - Misc Tab - 'Can manage RedBar Links'
if you hit trouble getting this to work, it is absolutely essential that you pore over the above wording, WORD FOR WORD

if you comply with the above intructions exactly as shown, it will work
Now click "Add Module" and Yes on the confirmation screen.
Click enable to enable the module.
the above part is easily missed if you are in a hurry - then it won't work
Users & Groups - Groups Permissions - Select Group - Admin Permissions - Misc Tab - 'Can manage RedBar Links'
if you don't follow that EXACTLY - again then it won't work

PROSILVER
you can save time by not implementing the colours.css or the common.css in prosilver, it will still work even though these 2 files were not edited

going with the recommended colours.css and common.css edits in prosilver, does give you a particularly pleasing finish though, the resulting bar "remembers" which link you last hit :D

Kenny, one of the greatest mods in phpBB3 history!!
