thx for the reply. I know its meant to work that way. But if i put in the update code in the templates the NOTES: do not show and if i change the stuff in viewtopic.php the notes are shown even if there are none.

Gotta dig a bit deeper. Find the old version install file and get to the bottom.

Btw. the image i posted were with the codes i posted in the same post.

You also have to update the language file as the Notes declaration changed to

Code: Select all

'NOTES'                => '<strong>Notes:</strong><span> %d </span>'
which is also why you aren't seeing a note count but do see a Notes:

GAWD, sometimes I am such a nub.

OPEN viewtopic.php

FIND

Code: Select all

'U_NOTES'			=> ($auth->acl_get('a_') || $auth->acl_getf_global('m_') && $user_cache[$poster_id]['notes']) ? append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}mcp.$phpEx", 'i=notes&mode=user_notes&u=' . $poster_id, true, $user->session_id) : '',
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

'U_NOTES'			=> (($auth->acl_get('a_') || $auth->acl_getf_global('m_')) && $user_cache[$poster_id]['notes']) ? append_sid("{$phpbb_root_path}mcp.$phpEx", 'i=notes&mode=user_notes&u=' . $poster_id, true, $user->session_id) : '',
then the notes should show only if they actually have any. :roll:

Nub doesnt sound that bad.

Got it working fine :) Thx for your effort. A little advise. Have all previously releases as downloads in first post, that way the user can always uninstall the version they have and install new. I had the older version at my HD so it made it easier to double check.

Open: includes/mcp/mcp_notes.php

Find
Tip: This may be a partial find and not the whole line.

Code: Select all

add_log('admin',
Add before
Tip: Add these lines on a new blank line before the preceding line(s) to find.

Code: Select all

					// begin user notes in viewtopic mod
					if (!$deleteall)
					{
						$action = 'some';
			  		}
			  		else
			  		{
						$action = 'reset';
					}
					include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/notes_in_viewtopic.' . $phpEx);
				 	notes_in_viewtopic($action, $user_id, $count);
					// end user notes in viewtopic mod
=======================

cat mcp_notes.php | grep *add_log('admin',*
142: add_log('admin', 'LOG_CLEAR_USER', $userrow['username']);
160: add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_FEEDBACK', $userrow['username']);

Same for acp_users.php. Which lines should I edit? Clarify things please.

That's the problem - I followed the instructions. Redid everything 4 times but still no luck (yes, I didn't forget about SQL, yes, cache was deleted, theme updated). No errros, just... nothing.
That's why I'm ask - because search value isn't unique - should I stop after first search result *OR MAY BE* some search result shouldn't be first? I can't try every, acp_users.php matches 6 times for the one search string.

Sorry, my mistake, language file notes_in_viewtopic.php was in plain ANSI encoding by default. All mods I did installed before had UTF-8 encoding by default >_>
So, I converted it into UTF-8 and now everything seems to be fine.

Thanks for the mod.

Incorrect, the lang file that comes with the mod is encoded UTF-8, I just checked it via a fresh download from the first post in this topic.
Thanks for the mod.
You're welcome. :)

You didn't install the mod correctly. An AFTER ADD could also be a partial find of the line and means to add the code on a new blank line after the line(s) that are found.

Hey guys, I in the process of doing this mod and have a question. I'm pretty new to this but have done around 10 mods so far with them all working (knocking on deck).

I'm working on the Open: includes/acp/acp_users.php part

and
add_log('admin',

Comes up around 12 times.

Do I add

Code: Select all

// begin user notes in viewtopic mod
if (!$deleteall)
{
$action = 'some';
}
else
{
$action = 'reset';
}
include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/notes_in_viewtopic.' . $phpEx);
notes_in_viewtopic($action, $user_id, $count);
// end user notes in viewtopic mod
before all 12 cases??

Here are the cases that I have

Code: Select all

add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_DELETED', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_REACTIVATE', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', $log, $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_DEL_SIG', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_DEL_AVATAR', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_DEL_POSTS', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_DEL_ATTACH', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_MOVE_POSTS', $user_row['username'], $forum_info['forum_name']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_USER_UPDATE', $data['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_CLEAR_USER', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_USER_FEEDBACK', $user_row['username']);
add_log('admin', 'LOG_ATTACHMENTS_DELETED', implode(', ', $log_attachments));
And if you could, instead of just answering the question, could you give me a tip to what to look for. Damn, that sounded kind of crappy. I would be very happy for just the answer but would like to learn something in the process also. ;)

I had this come up a few times before and I can just try a few different once to make it work but 12 would kill me.

Thank you
Brian

You do the edits in order. So once you do one edit then the very next find that matches the next edit is where the code goes. Keep in mind that a FIND may not be the entire line, but the code goes on a new blank line after you do the FIND.
