Wouldn't it be easier to just set the default value for user_notify to 1?

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE phpbb_users CHANGE user_notify user_notify TINYINT(1) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '1'

For those that know how to run a sql via phpmyadmin, maybe. This MOD just makes two changes to includes/usercp_register.php.

So, I guess, you could do one or the other.

You say tomato, I say tomatoe. ;)

Sorry, don't know how much more plainer I can make it than this

Which, oddly enough, is in the very first post of this topic. :roll:

Thanks for the mod!

Does the user still have the option to change the setting to "No"?

I'd like to hide the option entirely and force everyone to receive reply notices.

Yes

OPEN

styles/xxx/template/ucp_prefs_personal.html

FIND

Code: Select all

	<!-- IF S_SELECT_NOTIFY -->
		<dl>
			<dt><label for="notifymethod0">{L_NOTIFY_METHOD}:</label></dt>
			<dd>
				<label for="notifymethod0"><input type="radio" name="notifymethod" id="notifymethod0" value="0"<!-- IF S_NOTIFY_EMAIL --> checked="checked"<!-- ENDIF --> /> {L_NOTIFY_METHOD_EMAIL}</label>
				<label for="notifymethod1"><input type="radio" name="notifymethod" id="notifymethod1" value="1"<!-- IF S_NOTIFY_IM --> checked="checked"<!-- ENDIF --> /> {L_NOTIFY_METHOD_IM}</label>
				<label for="notifymethod2"><input type="radio" name="notifymethod" id="notifymethod2" value="2"<!-- IF S_NOTIFY_BOTH --> checked="checked"<!-- ENDIF --> /> {L_NOTIFY_METHOD_BOTH}</label>
			</dd>
		</dl>
	<!-- ENDIF -->
remove it. The code will look a tad different in a subsilver2 based style...but you get the idea. ;)

This is a great feature, thanks!

Anyway I still wonder why Shasoosh's way to modify the "user_add"-function did not work:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 5#p6262205

I faced this case after installing this MOD in an environment where LDAP authentication was used. There this mod just did not work, because LDAP module registers users when they login for the first time, and uses "user_add"-function likewise but now without any modifications. This mod does not seem to affect LDAP registrations.

After making the modification that Shasoosh did (and updating the database for already registered users http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 5#p6326475 plus this mod installed) our new users seem to have "Notify me when a reply is posted" checkbox enabled by default.

Just to let you know, just wondering....
