I don't know Fridge but that was the problem with me. Anyway.

I'm having a problem with my Feeds. Mozilla Thunderbird always halts at the last two feeds when I try to download my forum's feeds. Does that happen sometimes?

Not on my board......RSS works as it should.
Ive looked at your board and maybe the speed of it is causing the problem, sometimes your server is quite slow...

I noticed this also ... It displays the users ID number instead of the username

Can this be changed?
Same problem over here.

Interesting is, that only the external feedreader seems to have this problem. The dynamic bookmark at FF 2.0.0.17 still shows the creators.

quick & dirty solution on rss.php:
Changing

Code: Select all

	case 'posts':
		$row_title	= 'post_subject';
		$row_creator= 'poster_id';

to

Code: Select all

	case 'posts':
		$row_title	= 'post_subject';
		$row_creator= 'username';

worked for me (at least at the posts feed)

edit: semicolon inserted

After some hours of research and after using some of the explanations in this forum I succeeded in having RSS feeds with the following features:
  • being able to retrieve RSS feeds from my forum with forced authentification (/root/rss.php)
  • getting RSS links that contain my user id (overall_header.html)
  • getting usernames instead of uids in external feedreaders (function.php and overall_header.html)
  • no statistics or next page links within the feeds (rss_template.xml)
  • German translation
The way how I found these solutions is posted at http://tinyurl.com/44fzsk (German). At the bottom of the page, where it says "Sammlung aller modifizierter Dateien", there is a zip file for download I had to remove from this forum.

Included are the patched files that can be simply copied over a plain installation of phpBB 3.0.2. WITHOUT ANY MODS INSTALLED

Hey, I wanted to say "thank you" for this amazing mod, it works beautifully on my forum. I do have a quick question, though:

Is it possible to subscribe/link to a feed that only pulls topics (or, more specifically, the first post of each topic) from a forum? At the moment, as far as I can tell, you can subscribe to all the posts in a single topic, all the posts in a single forum (threads AND their replies), and entire forums.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Great mod! :lol:

I really can't say. Because it works fine with Google Reader. Only disturbs me on Mozilla Thunderbird.

I've also noticed that Feeds repeat themselves and load again, as in same Feed being displayed again and again on mybloglog.com. If anyone uses that.

Appreciate the response! That was easy - maybe too easy. I was a little concerned about modifying the DB. I didn't want to blow the structure by accident.

Anyway, I followed the rest of the instructions, but "RSS" does not show in the ACP. I have english and english US installed. I even modified common.php in both with no luck.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ah Ha! Fixed. Sweet...

The same happens to me, I use Opera 9.52 for feeds reading.

During my tests I found two new problems:

If the content is cut after xxx characters and the position is exactly inbetween a special character (like the German ä,ö,ß, etc.) you will get a problem with some readers. I use utf-8.

The same problem is if the cut is done in a html entity. You have implemented a procedure to avoid the cutting in a bbcode. But smilies for example are not bbcode, they seemed to be converted to plain html and therefore a cut may occur in the middle of this code.

Perhaps you can find a solution for that ?
