klopik wrote:Two things would be made this mod absolutely perfect to my mind:
1) Enable QUOTE preview (if user quoted somebody in his last post - his own post is shown with quoted text as well as one string). Not always is possible to catch a sense in that case.
2) Emoticons show. At least emoticons! Many users used to post by emoticons only and it would be marvellous to see them in tooltip as well.
both will never happen as it would require html and/or bbcode parsing and as such, due to the length set in the ACP, could possibly get cutoff and look like, ermmm, гречиха. :)

and no I don't speak any Russian. ;)

For example, this simple little smilie

:mrgreen:

is actually this in html

Code: Select all

<img src="http://www.phpbb.com/community/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" border="0" />
...or close to that. So when tooltipped could look like this

Code: Select all

<img src="http://www.phpbb.com/community/i ...
eg...and get cutoff and never parsed correctly. If you don't want the quote to show at all, find this in includes/topic_text_hover.php

Code: Select all

'flash';
and change to this

Code: Select all

'flash|quote';
...but that's all I plan on as far as parsing the topic text goes. Sorry, ermmm, огорченно. :)

Thank you for this mod.

At first I could not get it to work, then I found out I had to set in ACP -> Board features -> Allow First Post Text In Mouse Hover: Yes. :oops:

Thanks again! :mrgreen:

I was able to install this mod and get it working. what is happening though is I only get 85 characters (with spaces) no matter how high I set the nmber of characters. Anything less than that and it adjusts correctly.

EDIT: Found this is only happening in Firefox. IE seems to be ok. Wierd

Sorry, as much as I keep trying and trying to get version 1.0.4 validated on here, it just doesn't happen.

[snip]MOD version 1.0.4a has been validated[/snip]

Thank you for trying one of my modifications and I hope you find it beneficial. :)

I've installed this mod and have the following errors:

1. Hovering over a topic, it just tells me when the topic was posted - mod not working.

2. I login to my ACP thinking I need to turn it on, when I click on "Board Settings" on the left side panel, I get following error:

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /adm/index.php on line 150: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /language/en_us/acp/board.php:1)
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /adm/index.php on line 152: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /language/en_us/acp/board.php:1)
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /adm/index.php on line 153: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /language/en_us/acp/board.php:1)
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /adm/index.php on line 154: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /language/en_us/acp/board.php:1)

Please help with fixing this mod.

Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to everyone :)

You have edited the language file with an editor that has inserted a BOM. You need to edit the file with a strict text editor like notepad++.

The mod is not active upon initial install.

Well what I did was used WS_FTP to access the files, edited the file in notepad then saved it and uploaded it again.

Don't use notepad, it inserts what is known as a BOM (aka Byte Order Mark). So edit the language file with notepad++ which does not insert a BOM.

Okay I installed the Notepad++ and tried to reinstall it with that, the mod didn't work and still same error with ACP Board settings menu.. so I deleted the mod because it didn't work for me anyway - error still there in acp board so Its got nothing to do with the mod, I installed SEO_MOD and Advanced MEta Tags mod aswell so I'm going to de-install them one by one and see which made the difference.

Thanks anyways guys :)

I installed this mod and I'm getting no errors, but when I mouse over any topic the tooltip only comes up as "..."

I retraced my steps and all of my files seem to be edited correctly and the SQL values are entered and look correct, is there something I'm missing?

Double check your edits to viewforum.php and if still stuck, post your file up using the bbcode code tag.

Any way for the hover text to show line breaks instead or running the text all together?
