Cool...my first "official" MOD released into the MODDB for phpBB3

Nothing out of the ordinary with this one...just adding the Birthday fields to the registration form.

Verified working as is on 3.0.6

Thank you for this mod.

It's hard for people to enter their birthday in their profiles. This will make it happen.

I have one request. What do I need to change in the code so it doesn't require the year at sign up? Younger people really don't care. Older folks do.

Well...it's a little unconventional but you can try this in the instructions:

In includes/ucp/ucp_register.php

Find:

				'lang'				=> array('match', false, '#^[a-z_\-]{2,}$#i'),

Add after:

Code: Select all

				'bday_day'				=> array('num', false),
				'bday_month'			=> array('num', false),

You'll need to remove this line added by the mod:

Code: Select all

				'user_birthday' 	=> array('date', false),

Let me know if it works as I have not tested this...

We installed this mod, edited the files. However, the birthday is not being asked at registration. What might we be doing wrong?

You've edited the template you're actually using and refreshed the template in ACP?

ACP -> Styles -> Templates -> Refresh (for the style you're using)

If it still doesn't work then provided you've done all of the edits correctly you might have the birthday feature disabled in which case the fields won't show on registration.

If the birthday field is not enabled how would I enable it?

That would be ACP -> Board features -> Allow Birthdays

But if you can already see birthdays elsewhere on the board then most likely it's already enabled.

Well here is my problem. I added all of the code as instructed. However, the field is not showing up on the registration page and now when a user tries to register, they cannot because they get an error that says the birthday info is missing but there is not field to enter the birthday. What did I do wrong?
