A nice addition to this mode would be to have 'newest blog topics' or something like that added to the index page, so that users can see a direct link to that half the board. Right now, the functional integration is all there, but the visual integration is a little lacking, so it's easy for users to not really realize that that part of the site even exists.

You can use the Javascript feed to output it easily (though it may look out of place).

Yes.

To find out your PHP version just go to your ACP and click on the PHP Information link. You'll see your PHP version in big letters near the top.

yes, you'll copy everything inside of root folder to root folder on the server. Usually, root folder on the server contains config.php file of the board.

Can you elaborate on that? What javascript feed is this you speak of?

If you click the feed button, at the bottom it'll list a javascript feed.

Just take that javascript feed from whatever feed you want and paste the code in the html file.

Thanks, I'll play with that. It's not necessarily the best way of doing it, but it's a way of doing it. I'm sure I can manage to get it to work the way I want.

If you drop the _output-true part from the html it just gives you the data so you can output it as you want to.
