Very nice, mtrs! Is it possible to limit the override to first posts of topics? So users can only override the time limit if they started the topic - and can only edit that first post?

Thanks for your interest Martex. ;)

There is a user permission to override edit time limit, the code below changes that permission to override topic first post edit time limit

Open
posting.php
Find
Code: Select all
if($auth->acl_get('f_ignore_edit', $forum_id) || $auth->acl_get('u_post_edit_allow'))

Replace with
Code: Select all
if($auth->acl_get('f_ignore_edit', $forum_id) || ($auth->acl_get('u_post_edit_allow') && $post_data['topic_time'] == $post_data['post_time']))

Open
viewtopic.php

Find
Code: Select all
   if($auth->acl_get('f_ignore_edit', $forum_id) || $auth->acl_get('u_post_edit_allow'))

Replace with
Code: Select all
   if($auth->acl_get('f_ignore_edit', $forum_id) || ($auth->acl_get('u_post_edit_allow') && $topic_data['topic_time'] == $row['post_time']))

In my tests it remembers..
I mean, there are
  • edit time - global
  • forum edit time
  • user edit time
Maximum of one of those limits override to the others, also if override edit time limit user or forum permission is set YES, that overrides all..
In your case, It might be set as, (considering your permissions set NO), your forum_edit_time limit might be smaller than global edit limit or user_edit_time limit..

The global one is set to 120 minuts, but the one in the forum edit page wont remember it.. it even has no default value like "0" ...

Globoal edit time = 120 minutes
Forum (A) edit time = ?? minutes
User edit time = ?? minutes

Can you say those above?

P.S. When you say "forum edit page wont remember", do you mean doesnt save at ACP forum edit time limit?
If that is so, what value did you try to enter?

it is idd like i said above:
Globoal edit time = 120 minutes
Forum (A) edit time = 240 minutes-->does not save it!
User edit time = 0 minutes-->disable

it's just not saving it to the database for some reason.. when i'm back on the page the enterd field is empty..

What is the error message? I just downloaded a copy again and installed with Automod, it saves as it should do.
If you use Firefox 3.0. , make use it doesn't auto fill username and passwords.

Hi!

Please, could anyone explain, how make LOCK_POST function not override editing time limit in one case and do override in another?
Case 1. If post locked user can edit it during editing time limit.
Case 2. But if post unlocked - user can edit his post even if editing time is over.

This post has info to edit your own locked topic if your lock topic permission in that forum.

Just set the correct edit time, then users can edit their posts, this standart phpBB3 feature.
