The latest release of Primetime is working fine on 3.0.6, you can pick it up on this site (I have also posted pre-edited files in the forum there to help installation).

There is lots of support for this, and is almost exclusively handled on the same site, the phpbb.com site is not checked nearly as often.

The latest issues posted to this site I myself an unable to help with (I am only a beta tester and uhh.. provide ideas and feedback for new features/improvements). Blitze is The Man when it comes to PT, and has been very busy with rl as of late, but is still very actively working on improvements and such for PT.

Both mods at their base are doing the same thing, although the end results are quite different. PT not only acts as a portal like the Board3 portal does, but does so much more on top of that. If I understand correctly, Board3 portal uses a /portal.php page as the home page, whereas PT allows you to choose your own home page, be it the forums index, or any other page, including any custom pages you've created with the Pages module inside PT. I can't say anything to file edit conflicts or anything like that, but assuming you can get both installed and running together you may be able to use the /portal.php page from Board3 portal as your home page, then use all the other features of PT on top of that. This is, of course, pure speculation, I don't think anyone yet has tried to run both together. Would certainly be an interesting experiment heheh :)

In my humble opinion, you would not want to taint Primetime with a portal. Portals just pull info from the forums for the most part. Primetime is a CMS and adds a whole new functionality to the PHPBB3 system. I have used at least 3 to 4 different portals that have been considered complete and they pale to compare to Primetime. Even though Primetime is not completed, it offers more potential than any portal I've seen and if development continues will rival that of standalone CMS like Drupal, Joomla, etc. for those who want to use PHPBB3 with a CMS.

Head on over to their site and get involved. Offer feedback in how it can be improved and if you are a savvy PHP coder, offer solutions to make it the next big thing. >:+)

I agree with Zason.
For my site I use PHPBB3 forum and board3 Portal with calendar mode and gallery mode.
But static pages of history must be coded by hand, and so they are "invisable" for searching and when update comes, all of them must be updated. (20 of them..)

The Primetime offer me the last think I miss on my site. Static pages in database, so there is no need to update them.
I hope, that soon I can test it. Until now I fail to install it. Why nobody know ... (I post problem here, but no solution )

I wish to test it and help coders with my opinion.
I hope, that it will offer also menu of articles, not only Categories menu. This I need for my static pages.

So GO ON !!

Give this a try, it works for me.

Install a new forum (for testing this) and then get the AutoMod and install it. Then upload the latest Primetime zip file. I get my Primetime from the "mylatterdays" site. (1.0.1 RC6 I believe). Upload the zip using AutoMod from the Admin Panel. It should install seemlessly. Then goto http ://www.yoursite .com/install to get the tables.

Note: I was having issues with it and I changed my .htaccess to one I had previously when working with Drupal. I do not know what it is but it worked. I am still learning. I will post my .htaccess in case you wish to use it. It is a basic Drupal 6 edit so I do not know whats the code that makes it work for me. >:+)

When I install and run the cms_install.php

I get the following error after I click "Submit".
The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.
How do I fix that?

I also don't see any forum to copy permissions from... that could be the issue.

Thank you for working so hard on this wonderful mod! I think this was the smoothest mod installation I've done so far. It just worked with Automod, no glitches at all. I did install it on a test forum with XAMPP on my comp though. Now I have to decide weather to keep the board3 Portal installed on my live forum and add the Primetime, or uninstall board3 :roll:
Thanks again, great job guys.

Board3 is nice as portals go and I used it for awhile. They worked really hard on it and there is no shame in using it. If it has all you need, why rock the boat?

However, if you want a fully featured and functional CMS site to work seemlessly with phpBB3, them Primetime could be the answer for you.

I wish I was paid for this, I just really really like it and the possibilities that come with it. Expect others to start making their own CMS mods in the future, however I would suggest to help Primetime since it is a massive undertaking for one person.

The latest version has a lot of code finds that don't exist on my PHP files...

Like the following code find you have:

Code: Select all

$fileinfo = $this->get_module_infos($module_basename);
Is really:

Code: Select all

$fileinfo = $this->get_module_infos($module_basename, false, $module_dir);
on my PHP file... could be from a few mods I installed, but I don't want to manually go through every edit... there are so much :shock: (I'm using AutoMOD).
