Fantastic mod, but how can change this to per members? I think can change this mod to members favorite links, not global. When log in a user, can view his/her favorite links.

If i understand correctly you would like to make a link page for each member ?

This is really not what the mod is for, But its posible to set it up to do it with alot of editing. But before giving out instructions i wanna point out the problems with a solution like this. You have to set everything up, add each users link page,setup permissions. Everytime something needs to be changed the users have to pm/email you and you have to type in his og hers link page. It will be alot of work.

In fact you have to install this mod once for every member you have. Like this

http://www.yoursite.com/faq.php?mode=username1_link
http://www.yoursite.com/faq.php?mode=username2_link
http://www.yoursite.com/faq.php?mode=username3_link

Again this mod is greated not as personal links for each member, but as a global link page. To get something like this, but with more user controls you should se this mod (not validated) http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 0&t=697195

Thanks for great tip, I will try use these mods for favorite links. My users quest: "how can I save my favorite posts?", but I think use this (or favorite topic mod) to save posts links with (or without) comments. Just look a solution to this problem.
Thanks for help!

Hope you dont mind me asking,

Now we have permissions on this it is ideal for what i wanted to do previous. I.e. run a seccond a copy of the mod but as a members offers page.

In the process of testing this but i seem to have missed somthing..

The title of the page Just says { FAQ_TITLE } so is not defined i assume. but i cannot find at what point i missed it?

maybe its a language code that has to be changed from "links" to offers instead. its very simple to find were the error could be, just open all files you have edited and uploaded when adding the link page mod. all files in the install.xml and subsilver2.xml if you did thoose. Search all of them for the word "Links" and/or link. After a few mins you should have the old language value you forgot to change. I will make a guide for this and add it somewere..

Ok i checked all the edits, and all references to links were changed to offers. those references in caps were also placed in caps.

I have also compared the edits to the early test version 1.01 you supplied me a while back (this is the version currently in op for links page on my test, My live site is on the older one yet to be changed) And i still dont get it..

Im clearly missing somthing though?? just cant figure what? as mouse over title on offers is also incorrect showing {OFFERS_PAGE}

I have just finished night shift and need some sleep so will go through again later. but pretty sure i checked every point?

Cheers

EDIT: Also hope you dont mind me posting these questions as although same mod i am making changes so taking a little off topic?

I have just made a guide for it, but it has to be put in the next update. It would be to many code boxes here in the topic.

But the tittle problem should be easy to fix.

find. The l_title part are connected to the language value in the common.php file.

Code: Select all

 	case 'links':
		if (!$auth->acl_gets('u_linkspage_mod'))
		{
			trigger_error('NO_VIEW_LINKS_MOD');
		}
		$l_title = $user->lang['LINKS_PAGE'];
		$user->add_lang('mods/links_page', false, true);
	break;
In this mod it looks like this.

Code: Select all

	'LINKS_PAGE'				=> 'Recommended links',
	'LINKS'					=> 'Links',
Change the 'LINKS_PAGE' to whatever your like with the "" around it.

3rd thing to make sure is right concerning the title are the overall_header.html

look at the org code

Code: Select all

	<!-- IF S_HIDE_LINKSMOD --><li class="icon-links"><a href="{U_LINKS}" title="{L_LINKS_PAGE}">{L_LINKS}</a></li><!-- ENDIF -->
The title="{L_LINKS_PAGE}"> has to match the LINKS_PAGE line in common.php

i hope it helps. ;)

As always thankyou so much, i found the issue! i was an idiot, because i had it set up on the old version, when i updated to the newer version I re-did the edits. but those edits that had not changed i left.. My error being that original install i called it member_offer and on the upgrade when making the changes i just called it offers..

I Totally missed it sorry but was clearly looking in the right place but just missed the subtle difference.

Cheers mate thanks again :ugeek:

I have just finished the installation but don't understand how to use the help_links_page.php. I need your further instruction because I don' t know php.

What should be edited or written in the help_links_page. php file so that the links can be shown. (For example, I have 3 links, http://12345.com, http://abcde.com, http://1a2b3c.net) And the final outcome is similar to your example- thecampingforum.

Thank you very much.

There is a acp editor for this mod that works just fine. FAQ manager: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 9&t=712805. If you install the faq manager you can avoid ftp and extra control over bbcode faq,faq and even the rules mod that this mod is based on. This way you have no need to know php. But its pretty easy to add extra stuff to the default settings that comes with the mod, give it a few tries ;)

FAQ manager is a simple upload and one install file to run. no edits.
