Hi.

Great MOD, easy install.

But I do have a question:
My board is bilingual (en and nl (Dutch)) and users have the freedom to select the language they prefer.
Most users use nl, but I prefer en.
Everything installed as expected, and I have two Links pages (1xen and 1xnl) also as expected.
BUT I do not want to maintain two pages.
So now for my question, can I alter the settings of one of the languages, as to view the links page of the other language? This way I only have to maintain a single links page.
I would prefer to edit the english link, to open the dutch links page.

I hope I made my question clear enough.

grtz,
Twan

in principal its just a language file. were it is doesnt matter. You can move it outside the en or nl folder and edits the language links in the rest of the files.

But if i were you i would maintaine the two pages, just keep both links pages in en or nl. Think about it and i will look at the mod and see what needs changing.

Hi.

I definitely only want one links page for both languages.
At this moment I have about 400 "forumlinks". And I want to "move" these to the links page.

As you might imagine, it will be a real task to maintain even 1 page. Let alone two, which should be exactly the same anyway.

Twan

Copy the entire content of one of the files over into the other. If the langauge doesnt matter.

Thats alot of links :) Im on it. testing it out now.

Edit: Here is the solution for you.

Move help_links_page.php the from language/en/mods folder to language/

OPEN faq.php
FIND

Code: Select all

 	case 'links':
		if (!$auth->acl_gets('u_linkspage_mod'))
		{
			trigger_error('NO_VIEW_LINKS_MOD');
		}
		$l_title = $user->lang['LINKS_PAGE'];
		$user->add_lang('mods/links_page', false, true);
	break;
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

 	case 'links':
		if (!$auth->acl_gets('u_linkspage_mod'))
		{
			trigger_error('NO_VIEW_LINKS_MOD');
		}
		$l_title = $user->lang['LINKS_PAGE'];
		$user->add_lang('../links_page', false, true);
	break;
Worked for me.

Oke, great....

That works.....

BUT, would it also be able to work when using faq manager to edit the page?

I dont think so. FAQ mananger is made to edit the faqs. and all of them are located inside the en(or nl) folder. But give it a go. Its very easy to install.

As i thought. Just copy the file from /language/ to the old location. Do your faq manager edits and move it back.But once you have installed the first 400 links im 99.9% sure you can do all future edits manually and backwards at night :D

Thanx for your help.

That's a nice workaround..... I could definitely try that one....

I remember reading something in the faq manager about looking at a second location.
I will try to append it to my situation.

If that works, I will post it here.

Hi.

At the end of page 2 and the beginning of page 3 of the Faq Manager topic, a discussion is posted about reading faq's that reside in language/xx/ instead of language/xx/mods/

Can I move the help_links_page.php to language/en/.
Can I alter this instruction in the links page, to let the faq manager and the link find it.

Code: Select all

		<open src="faq.php">
			<edit>
				<find><![CDATA[	case 'bbcode':
		$l_title = $user->lang['BBCODE_GUIDE'];
		$user->add_lang('bbcode', false, true);
	break;]]></find>
				<action type="after-add"><![CDATA[ 	case 'links':
		if (!$auth->acl_gets('u_linkspage_mod'))
		{
			trigger_error('NO_VIEW_LINKS_MOD');
		}
		$l_title = $user->lang['LINKS_PAGE'];
		$user->add_lang('../links_page', false, true);
	break;
]]></action>
			</edit>
		</open>
cheers!!

!
Sure no problem. try this.

Code: Select all

   case 'links':
      if (!$auth->acl_gets('u_linkspage_mod'))
      {
         trigger_error('NO_VIEW_LINKS_MOD');
      }
      $l_title = $user->lang['LINKS_PAGE'];
      $user->add_lang('links_page', false, true);
   break;
Im not sure what you talk about with the faq manager. to get the best answer you should ask more in details there.

Hi.

I have moved the file to languages/en/ and changed as per your suggestion.
And that works like a charm.
I have two languages, who both look at the same file. Which is editable by the FAQ Manager.
(FAQ manager 1.2.5 already looks at languages/en/ for faq files)

Thanx a bunch.

Hi.

I was not entirely correct.

When moved to language/en/ the faq manager finds the file, and I can edit it.
When changed faq.php to

Code: Select all

       case 'links':
          if (!$auth->acl_gets('u_linkspage_mod'))
          {
             trigger_error('NO_VIEW_LINKS_MOD');
          }
          $l_title = $user->lang['LINKS_PAGE'];
          $user->add_lang('links_page', false, true);
       break;
the link(in the header) to the links page for en finds the correct linkspage. But now the link in the header for nl, wants language/nl/help_links_page.php which is not the correct file to look for. (well, not the one, I want it to link to)

When moved to language/ the faq manager can not find the file, and I can not edit it.
When changed faq.php to

Code: Select all

       case 'links':
          if (!$auth->acl_gets('u_linkspage_mod'))
          {
             trigger_error('NO_VIEW_LINKS_MOD');
          }
          $l_title = $user->lang['LINKS_PAGE'];
          $user->add_lang('../links_page', false, true);
       break;
the link(in the header) to the links page for en and nl finds the same correct linkspage.

So now I am a little confused as to what is going on.

Most preferable, it would be nice if the linkspage resides in language/en/ and the header link to it for both en and nl find the same file.

I hope I make myself clear enough.

grtz,
Twan
