If automod fails you have to install it manually.
Its easy to install, just use a text editor like notepad++

Hey stoker. Went over the mod today a second time. Found a edit that differs from the phpbb3 template

Instead of replacing the org code with this:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF FORUM_SEO_DESC --><span style="font-weight:bold;">{FORUM_SEO_KEY}</span><br /><span>{FORUM_SEO_DESC}<br /></span><!-- ELSEIF FORUM_DESC --><span>{FORUM_DESC}<br /></span><!-- ENDIF -->
Shouldnt it be this

Code: Select all

<!-- IF FORUM_SEO_DESC --><span style="font-weight:bold;">{FORUM_SEO_KEY}</span><br /><span>{FORUM_SEO_DESC}<br /></span><!-- ELSEIF FORUM_DESC --><span style="display: none">{FORUM_DESC}<br /></span><!-- ENDIF -->
Also i got a request from some users that they feelt no need to see the forum seo. Only the search engines and bots should be able to see it.

So i wonder if the following would do that, im pretty sure, but no shame in asking :D

Top seo

Code: Select all

<!-- IF FORUM_SEO_DESC --><!-- IF not S_USER_LOGGED_IN or S_IS_BOT --><span style="font-weight:bold;">{FORUM_SEO_KEY}</span><br /><span>{FORUM_SEO_DESC}<br /></span><!-- ENDIF --><!-- ELSEIF FORUM_DESC --><span style="display: none">{FORUM_DESC}<br /></span><!-- ENDIF -->
Buttom seo

Code: Select all

<!-- IF FORUM_SEO_BOTTOM --><!-- IF not S_USER_LOGGED_IN or S_IS_BOT --><br /><div><span>{FORUM_SEO_BOTTOM}</span></div><!-- ENDIF --><!-- ENDIF -->
Does it make any sense ?

1. Nope, this mod is doing SEO improvements.

Code: Select all

<span style="display: none">
is not SEO. Its actually the opposite.
Also this mod states to give users ability to have different discription on forum index and viewforum.
You cant have that with no forum description on viewforum.
So there is actually made an improvement even on forums where no forum SEO is done.

2. Your suggestion will show forum SEO for guests and bots.
This is the only legal solution if you dont want to show it to your users.
Showing it only for bots would be cloaking and a pretty dangerous thing to do.

Thanks for explaining that. I was not aware that this mod activated the normal forum description made by phpbb so i thought it was an error. But of course it adds better seo on the forums were Forum seo havnt been set.

Its great that the second suggestion is posible and not conflicting with google guidelines. :)

Hey is this good enough to give SEO keywords and SEO bottom description instead of SEO description?
And if I do this, only SEO description is visible at the bottom for the forum and Keywords don't appear. While if I just fill SEO description along with the SEO keywords, then both keywords and description appear at top.

As it is now you need to use the SEO description to activate both keywords and description in the template.
But offcourse you can switch it around in the template.

If that is, then please tell me the modification so that both SEO description and SEO keywords appear at bottom of the forum.

First thing to do is undo the edits of: styles/prosilver/template/viewforum_body.html
This is done by following the instructions backwards.

Second, in styles/prosilver/template/viewforum_body.html find:

Code: Select all

<!-- INCLUDE jumpbox.html -->
Add before:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF FORUM_SEO_DESC --><span style="font-weight:bold;">{FORUM_SEO_KEY}</span><br /><span>{FORUM_SEO_DESC}<br /></span><!-- ENDIF -->
<!-- IF FORUM_SEO_BOTTOM --><br /><div><span>{FORUM_SEO_BOTTOM}</span></div><!-- ENDIF -->

It appears you have a SEO MOD conflicting with the forum. Try asking in where you got the MOD from.
how to resolv it ?
