Odd question, but I've decided to un-install the Karma mod from one of my boards due to disuse and I'm not sure how to undo the SQL changes, partially because I don't know what changes were made. Is it just certain tables which can be dropped? Or is there more to it than that?

Note that I love the Karma mod, I just don't need it on that board. I'm all about clean code and removing mods that aren't needed or used, so I just want to clean up this board.

I love this MOD, but I have had to uninstall it due the previously mentioned performance issues with viewtopic.php. The time taken for the database queries seem to get worse with the more Karma that a user has given.

One of my users had given Karma over 1100 times and the delay for him when opening a topic made it painful to use.

It is a shame as I have been a long time user of this MOD :cry: I hope this can be resolved in the future.

I have recently removed the Karma MOD and found that removing the following seems to cover everything that I could see:

delete the table 'phpbb_karma'

Search the following tables for the word 'karma' and delete all entries that appear:

phpbb_acl_options (4 entries)
phpbb_config (30 entries)
phpbb_modules (4 entries)

You will also need to go into the ACP Module Management and delete the various modules from the ACP and UCP.

Hello, this is a great mod but it doesn't seem to be working properly for me any more.

Only text is displayed 'increase karma' or 'decrease karma', not images, even though images is set in the ACP.

I am using the revolution theme, any ideas?

I think the installation is messed up, in any case I want to update the installation of this karma mod. However, it is reporting that it is up to date and therefore will not allow me to continue.

How can I continue regardless?

@m157y: First... Welcome back! Glad to hear, that you are all right.

Does the mod work with phpBB 3.0.7-PL1?

Would be glad to use it on my live board and provide a german translation... but seems there are still some problems... hope the mod will be stable soon! ^_^

By the way: "Happy Easter!" ^_-

Serious Installation problems. On the installer there is no text anywhere. it shows everything but on a lot of pages its blank and it has the radio buttons yes no and stuff. for administer and OMG its chaos there is no support page no everything its all gone!

worst part i could not unstall the edits that it did!

i had to do a full site restore remove all bad files. Restore all then restore database (just in case)

EDIT: Great i had to remove the whole site and start over. The only thing i have left is the database backup

Hey guys,

i had trouble with the mod showing only text to increase and decrease so i fiddled around and this helped me overcome the issue.

in the viewtopic_body

Code: Select all

<!-- [+] Karma MOD -->
		<!-- IF postrow.S_KARMA_ENABLED -->
			<!-- IF postrow.U_KARMA_COMMENTS -->
				<dd><a href="{postrow.U_KARMA_COMMENTS}"><strong>{L_KARMA}:</strong> {postrow.KARMA}</a></dd>
			<!-- ELSE -->
				<dd><strong>{L_KARMA}:</strong> {postrow.KARMA}</dd>
			<!-- ENDIF -->
			<!-- IF postrow.U_KARMA_INCREASE || postrow.U_KARMA_DECREASE -->
				<dd>
					<span class="karma-icons">
					<!-- IF postrow.U_KARMA_INCREASE --><span class="karma-increase-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_KARMA_INCREASE}"}"><img src="{T_IMAGESET_PATH}/icon_karma_increase.gif" title="[+]"><span></span></a></span><!-- ENDIF -->
					<!-- IF postrow.U_KARMA_DECREASE --><span class="karma-decrease-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_KARMA_DECREASE}"}"><img src="{T_IMAGESET_PATH}/icon_karma_decrease.gif" title="[+]"><span></span></a></span><!-- ENDIF -->
					</span>
				</dd>
			<!-- ENDIF -->
		<!-- ENDIF -->
		<!-- [-] Karma MOD -->
plus if you only want to allow ppl to increase the karma, delete the

Code: Select all

<!-- IF postrow.U_KARMA_DECREASE --><span class="karma-decrease-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_KARMA_DECREASE}"}"><img src="{T_IMAGESET_PATH}/icon_karma_decrease.gif" title="[+]"><span></span></a></span><!-- ENDIF -->
row from the code. hope this helps. wouldnt mind if someone could clear up the issue with why it doesnt work normally.

Hi,

I was wondering if the author might be willing to add an option to change the word karma to a user defined alternate. That way you could kill alot of birds with the one stone. Those that want 'given thanks' tallys or 'rep' tallys could change them really easily.

Another thing i was thinking about was, well atleast i think, it would be cool to have a live counter(http://www.chami.com/counter/classic/) not to sure how insane that might be to create. Perhaps on the header so it would be on every page. And everytime someone thanked you it would play a sound file saying thank you(in a sexy voice) and the count would increase.

Karma Spending

Post by lqdmindz » Thu Apr 15, 2010 9:25 am

Hi,

again... My second interesting addition would be to introduce Karma Spending. This would be were you could use your karma to buy things. that brings me to my third and final suggestion. i think you should at the ability to turn the site into an invite only site. you would sart off with 3 invites and then use your karma points to get new invites.

I would suggest when ever modding you board to make a backup, use xampp offline to test, and use a code editor like pspad that allows you to have multiple files open when your editting the files. Having the files all open allows you to revert to the original if something goes wrong.

This mod was quite simple to install, but one line of code is all it take to make it all come crashing down :(

Hi again,

Im aware ive posted a few times, sorry for this, but i think with this final post i can clarify most issues ppl may have.

Issues:

Pictures wont show for Karma Buttons ---- Check the version you have installed. Version 1.2.3 is available from here but is not the post up to date release. 1.4.0 is available from http://karmamod.svn.sourceforge.net/vie ... d/branches . Click on the link at the bottom of the page.

It says i dont have Admin Rights to install Karma Mod, but i am logged in as the admin ---- This is because you are most probably installing to a none standard prosilver template. When modding Retain your prosilver template and change the files in this template...then run the mods install directory...then change the style back...this way you will avoid pissing off the prosilver template dependant mod hahaha.

I dislike the word karma and as a result dont want to install the mod --- Easily fixed, though im thouroughly annoyed that the modder hasnt put the option in yet. If anyone can show me how to retrieve a string from a mysql database i would appreciate it alot. That way i could make it even better and have a section in the mod change everything at once.

EDIT:
karma_faq.php
(3.93 KiB) Downloaded 48 times
karma_common.php
(8.29 KiB) Downloaded 41 times
karma_ucp.php
(3.21 KiB) Downloaded 40 times
karma_acp.php
(11.01 KiB) Downloaded 44 times
Just put these in the langauge/en/mods/ folder and your set, ive done all the work. If you dont like the word Rep, just change the $KARMA_RENAME => 'rep' line near the top of all the pages.

Just installed 1.4 from 1.23
Like the Ajax for giving K
but
in my UCP under board prefs Im having some language issues.
Where it should say Karma MOD settings it only says UCP_KARMA
In the Drafts area it is cz or some other lang.
when I click on UCP_KARMA , the next page only displays {Title}

Thanks M157a, Im an old OGer where the work Karma originated.
I love the name and you've done some good work.
