Re: mChat new version

Post by rphMedia » Sun Nov 29, 2009 2:06 pm

How can I tell what version I currently have?

Edit: NVM - found it.

It says that I have 1.2.17, but the screenshots (in the contrib/screenshots folder) don't look like the version I have installed?
Regards,

Ron

In the contrib folder is an xml file for new topics and within this topic are instructions to add new replies as well.

Okay thank you =D I will try to rig it lol.

Hi,

mchat was the first mod that i installed. It really worked. But I am having some questions.

1. If I want to apply it to a different theme, how can I add.
2. I am not getting the permissons in the ACP. So what are the code parts, belong to admin permissons, then I can figure this out.

mChat is really cool. Keep up the good work.

i am currently using the style AcidTech(blue) which is not based off of either prosilver or subsilver2 :?

so i know that the basic template changes you have to make in the install.xml file for prosilver or subsilver2 will not work with my style. :roll:

can someone help me refine the template changes for this particular style?

changing the text color in the typing box.

some dark styles matching the typingbox background color with the text color, so you can't see a thing while you type.

solved:

edit the *.css files in mchat folder
inside the css file you should search for this:

input.mChatText {
cursor: text;
width: 50%;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
border: 1px solid #B4BAC0;
color: #00FFFF; <<== change this value and save the file
padding: 3px 5px 3px 5px;
margin: 5px 0px 0px 5px;

you can do it while the chat is working so you can choose different colors, also can play with other settings, don't forget to make a backup of you files if you are not sure about returning to a previous state

thanks stokerpiller for this great mod

Is a subsilver2 based style but the mchat_body.html will need to be modified to fit cyberaliens style (any of cyberaliens styles actually).

I'm using MChat 1.2.17 and phpbb v3.0.6. Everything is working fine (thanks!). However:

1) Kindly let me know what edit(s) I need to make to decrease the size of the custom chat page vertically.

2) Is it possible to make it so the website visitor receives a message stating that they have to "Login to access the Chat" if Guests don't have the Permissions to view the Chat?

Currently, it simply keeps them at the Forum index as if the link doesn't work.

Well, everything installed correctly but I don't see it in my index (only when I go directly to myforums/mchat.php). I have AeroBlue installed for 3.0.6 (an offshoot of subsilver 2). Any ideas?

Edit: Just edited subsilver 2 files, since it wasn't working in AeroBlue. Refreshed templates, etc. and nothing shows in that template either in the index...

Is it possible to create private chat room where only certain people are allowed into. Maybe this will help:

MAIN CHAT: Everyone
GAMES discusssion: Games group
MAC COMPUTER DISCUSSION: MAC group members

If so, how is it done?

No it isn't possible at the moment.

To all, probably be a good idea if a link to the Dev Topic was given.

I meant that step 4 telling to add 2 comment lines only?
This step 4?

http://rmcgirr83.org/mods/mChat/install ... ctions.php
at this step, where it tells me to add 2 comment lines to index_body.html

find :
<!-- INCLUDE forumlist_body.html -->
add before:
<!-- IF S_MCHAT_ENABLE and S_MCHAT_ON_INDEX and S_MCHAT_LOCATION --><!-- INCLUDE mchat_body.html --><!-- ENDIF -->
add after :
<!-- IF S_MCHAT_ENABLE and S_MCHAT_ON_INDEX and not S_MCHAT_LOCATION --><!-- INCLUDE mchat_body.html --><!-- ENDIF -->
