If they have DSL or a student, that is going to be normal. Every time i restart my dsl modem i get a new ip. I also browse sites on my iPhone.

Honestly if your using this MOD as a spam tool, you shouldn't. You should use Advanced Block Mod. I was getting hit with spam registrations, even when i was using the sortables captcha plugin. Once i installed that mod, not one fake account!

Triple-checked the few edits.
What could be the problem?
Does anybody have a solution for nothing at all showing up in the logs?

It could be caused by another mod that adds a custom log. If you have Advanced Block MOD, or another mod that adds a custom log, you need to change the index as I stated in a prior post. Also you need to logoff, then log back in and check.

No conflicting mods. The data is written to the database, but for some reason not exstracted.

I apologize for not responding to posts until now. Somehow I was not subscribed to this topic so I had no idea it was getting posts as I've been busy and was relying on email to notify me.

I'm not sure what to tell you....if you follow the instructions perfectly, the mod should work just as described. Did you follow the DIY instructions after the file edits that told you to run user_ip_logs_installer.php?

liquorburn wrote:hello,
I found how to install your mod (in fact, there are no instructions...) but after installing it, there is no menu entry "user IP logs" under "Maintenance" section.
Please, could you submit some instructions on how to correctly install your mod?

edit: my forum is using italian language... don't know if this could be an issue...
You should look closer, especially try opening install_user_ip_logs.xml with your browser and make sure once the file edits are complete, you follow the DIY instructions at the bottom.

Samanthavv wrote:So, does it record ALL of the IPs a user logs in with? Or is there a way to make it do that?>
The answer is yes, anythings possible but thats a bad idea due to the amount of logging it would lead to and the server load increase it would cause. It would also of course require a rewrite to part of this mod which I would need to thoroughly test before posting. I'm just a little too busy to do this for you since your the only person that wants this and it's honestly just not a great idea.

To everyone who has commented....Thanks for posting.

To everyone who likes the mod...I am glad you enjoy it and thanks a ton.

If I missed anyones question, please post again, I am subscribed to the topic now and will respond within a decent amount of time.

How do I make it so that it would log the ip even if the ip has been logged before?
I suspect it would be a change in the includes/functions.php ?
can i just change the edit
from:
// Begin -User IP Logs- mod
$sql = 'SELECT *
FROM ' . LOG_TABLE . '
WHERE log_type = ' . LOG_USERS_IP . '
AND user_id = ' . $user->data['user_id'] . '
AND log_ip = \'' . $db->sql_escape($user->data['session_ip']) . '\'';
$result = $db->sql_query($sql);
$results = $db->sql_fetchrow($result);
if (empty($results))
{
add_log('users_ip', 'LOG_USER_IP');
}
$db->sql_freeresult($result);
// End -User IP Logs- mod
to:
// Begin -User IP Logs- mod
add_log('users_ip', 'LOG_USER_IP');
// End -User IP Logs- mod

Why would you want to do this?

Let me be clear..the mod WILL log an identical IP if a new person is using it, it just will not log the same IP twice for the same user.

Why would you want to log the same user using the same ip multiple times? This will lead to MASSIVE logs as every single visit will result in a log of that user and his/her ip. I must recommend against this.

Sorry to bother you again.
The night I installed this mod I redid everything several times. I just couldnt get it working.

Then I tried it once again yesterday and "Viola" everything was working.
So I must have made one or more mistakes when trying the first time :oops:

This mod is working fine.

Hello Typos,

I would like to ask in constant.php, I have already have log Gallery, 4 .

Code: Select all

define('LOG_GALLERY', 4);
Should I just simply change

Code: Select all

define('LOG_USERS_IP', 4);
to 5? or something else.

Thank you. :)

Hi Typo,

I have a language string problem in Admin log after I deleted some User IP logs. Here is the screen shot.

I cannot find any language file edit concerning this one. Please help :)

Thank you very much.
