I was connecting to phpMyAdmin from my host directly instead of using a copy I installed myself on my server. Turns out the database it was pointing to is invalid. So my changes were never made - hence the error code I was being given.
I have successfully installed this mod and it is working fine. Much thanks to everyone who tried to help.
How about adding it to the first post so users know where to get it. I know i spent over 8 hours reading 100 pages of posts to see if my problem was even asked or solved. that's an awful lot of time spent to check for something. would be much easier for everyone if when there's an update ammend the first post letting people know.
