i am also using the phpbb debug error mod, and its showing me these errors from the post count mod:

Code: Select all

[Apr-25-2008  07:09:06 -14400] [phpBB Debug] ... PHP Notice: in file /homepages/36/htdocs/includes/functions.php on line 3482 : Undefined variable:  post_count

[Apr-25-2008  07:09:09 -14400] [phpBB Debug] ... PHP Notice: in file /homepages/36/htdocs/includes/functions.php on line 3482 : Undefined variable:  post_count

[Apr-25-2008  07:09:17 -14400] [phpBB Debug] ... [File viewforum.php?f=41] PHP Notice: in file /homepages/36/htdocs/includes/functions.php on line 3482 : Undefined variable:  post_count
in my functions.php, my line 3482 is:

Code: Select all

'NEW_POST_COUNT' 				=> $post_count,
Could you please help me resolve this?

The mod appears to work fine, but I just want to get rid of these error logs. running 3.0.1 right now. thank you

Make sure your forum is not in debug mode.

this is my config.php setting

@define('DEBUG_TEMPLATES', true);
//@define('DEBUG', true);
//@define('DEBUG_EXTRA', true);

so only the templates are being debugged right?

This Mod seems to be the greatest crap I've seen here since phpBB 3.0.0 has been released. Sorry, but at least from my point of view, this needs too much ressources, supplies no real value to the user, and itself is totally useless.

Besides the existing problems: Has anybody thought about not counting posts from forums where the user has no access to? :roll:

To do it right, you would need half the code from search.php to check if the user has the proper rights to read the posts. That's exactly what searching for New Posts does, when the total number of New Posts is shown at the end of the query. That means in the end, on every time you load the index-page (in prosilver, in subsilver every page!), you practically have to run the search for counting New Posts the same time instantly. That's insane, folks! :o

That's what I explained in this topic a few pages ago yet nobody answered it! This mod just eats way too much recourses!
