Logs phpBB Errors and Warnings in a Custom Error Log, so you can turn off the DEBUG/DEBUG EXTRA...
Where do I go to turn that off again? :(

No, thank you! :)

Another question. I've added a portal, and in one of the blocks (which appears to work fine), i get this message:

Warning: error_log(.//store/php_error.log) [function.error-log]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/36/d160906651/htdocs/includes/functions.php on line 2955

my 2955 line is:

Code: Select all

error_log("[$error_timestamp] [phpBB Debug] [client $user_ip] [File $user_page] PHP Notice: in file $errfile on line $errline : " . $error_msg . "\n", 3, $error_log);
Like junglistperfection, I have to comment it to resolve it.

the [function.error-log] hyperlink points to this: /block/function.error-log

Am i to add a function.error-log file to this directory?

Looking at the php_error.log, i get repeated messages like this:

Code: Select all

[Apr-17-2008  05:23:33 -14400] [phpBB Debug][File portal.php] PHP Notice: in file /homepages/36/d160906651/htdocs/includes/functions_display.php on line 436 : Undefined index:  guest_last_poster_name
The guest_last_poster_name is related to the anonymous mod, which works (so far), but I'm not sure what I need to do to resolve the "Undefined index" (what does that mean exactly?).

Is it something simple, like a line or two I need to add?

The portal appears to have messed up the phpbb_root_path for some reason. o.O

That’d be a question for the MOD Author... you might want to mention that you have an error logger installed. ;)

Is there a way to disable repeats of the same error?

Nice and useful MOD I can say, installed on two 3.0.1 boards without a glitch. Thanks.

BTW, I noticed it could happens to get errors if the file reach the 2gb size, depending on various factors indeed.
A coder knows errors and hopefully fix them before this file gets more than 2gb and delete it, but.. did you think about that case? And, do you think it is possible to edit it with your own comments like SOLVED being it a text file and then the error log will continue spotting errors right after my edits? Hope you get the point here.. like:
[12-May-2008 10:35:16 7200] [phpBB Debug] [client 127.0.0.1] [File index.php] PHP Notice: in file C:\EasyPHP 2.0b1\www\olympus_flags\index.php on line 199 : Undefined variable: online_guests_ip
[12-May-2008 10:37:01 7200] [phpBB Debug] [client 127.0.0.1] [File index.php] PHP Notice: in file C:\EasyPHP 2.0b1\www\olympus_flags\index.php on line 175 : Undefined index: session_ip
// 3Di: now fixed

I did think about that, actually... but I would have had to make some kind of control panel, which I didn't want to do with the initial version.
Aside from the fact that the error log would need over 35 million lines of errors before it would get close to that limit.

Thinking about a warning if the file gets so big, in order to delete/modify it in time.

Yep,

What do you think about that? I did not try it yet. Above I posted an example, in my last post.
Thanks

This mod should rotate error log files per day, to avoid a single mammoth log file. Esp as the larger the file gets, the longer it takes to download & view contents.

It just needs to detect filesize and rotate once the file size reaches 1GB

I personally like the idea of having a separate folder and per-day logs. Or for an other period.

How about per-week and not > 1GB. That way you could have 52 logs after a year instead of 365 log files. :P
