Could you try to look the records in your server errorlog when you get an empty page? There should be some error details, I guess.

Nothing listed in ACP>Maintenance>Error Logs. Went over the code again this morning, hoping something stuck out, but I can't get nothing but the white page.

How did you edit the files? Are they actually saved in UTF-8 without BOM encoding?

Ok, first I tried to edit viewtopic.php in wordpad, but when I tried to copy and paste from your xml, well that didn't look like it would work, so then I edited it in dreamweaver. I edited the styles file in wordpad, don't think I changed UTF stuff.

I'm pretty sure Worpad is not able to save something in UTF.
Could you try another editor that allows to save files exactly in UTF-8 without BOM? Encodig type is an important point for all phpBB3 files.

could you show me what to edit in order to allow users to see their own ip only? I would like for them to know we have it. Thanks!

Sure. Try the following code in viewtopic.php instead of default MOD code

Code: Select all

        'POSTER_IP'            => (($auth->acl_get('a_') || $auth->acl_get('m_') || ($user->ip == $user_cache[$poster_id]['ip'])) && $user->data['is_registered']) ? $user_cache[$poster_id]['ip'] : '',

everything went cool..

but I have a question:
Shouldn't the IP adress be viewed in the profile of the user?
I know I can see the IP from the ACP, and also see it from topic with this MOD...
But, I should be viewable in the user profile too..
Well, just a thought thou..

Thanks fir this MOD, works great! :D

Perhaps yes, but this MOD is called IP-address in topic ;)
Furthermore, you can see IP address by clicking on "Post details" question marked button in any post :)

Anyway, thanks for your thought and for your good opinion about MOD! :)

The other reason is that you would like to see what ip address was used to post the particular entry, not the last ip address that the user used....

thanks mod maker, done... easy as can be!!!
super sweet...

now i have to ask. this mod only reads(?) the ip address from the database or such, yes ? (could be wrong)
because i just installed the mod now, and have several posts on my forum already, and their correct ip is now shown, even thou they are days old, and i purged the cache too. so to me, i must assume that the ip was always there in the board software/sql database and this mod simply retrieves it and displays it. but if so, and NOT to disregard your mod, then why oh why isn't there a built in option in ACP ?? (sorry but i have to go back to my conspiracy theory)

thanks again... how's siberia ?? (apart from cold)

Yes.

So, what is shown, or nothing at all? If nothing, have you applied the style changes?

This is up to phpBB developers, sorry :)

Siberia is fine, It's cold but I guess it's not more wild than Canada or Australian desert ;)

First of all: Great Mod! Thank you very much!

But I have one problem with the code posted above:
rxu wrote:Sure. Try the following code in viewtopic.php instead of default MOD code

Code: Select all

        'POSTER_IP'            => (($auth->acl_get('a_') || $auth->acl_get('m_') || ($user->ip == $user_cache[$poster_id]['ip'])) && $user->data['is_registered']) ? $user_cache[$poster_id]['ip'] : '',
The IP-address just disappeared after I replaced the code in viewtopic.php - with the code brought to me by downloading the modification it had worked.

Could you help me with this matter?

Thank you!
