Lets ask Handyman to host all developers MODs Version Check file on his own server. :lol:

Apart from joking, if phpBB itself can host all such files in one place than that will boost its popularity in developers & more and more developers build their MODs compatible to this MOD. What do you people think? :idea:

How can I add some more Mods to the "mod_version_check_version.php"???
I did like this:

Code: Select all

class mod_version_check_version
{
	function version()
	{
		return array(
			'author'	=> 'Handyman`',
			'title'		=> 'MOD Version Check',
			'tag'		=> 'mod_version_check',
			'version'	=> '1.0.3',
			'file'		=> array('startrekguide.com', 'updatecheck', 'mods101.xml'),
		);
	}
}

class mod_version_check_test
{
	function hans()
	{
		return array(
			'author'	=> 'Test',
			'title'		=> 'MOD Test',
			'tag'		=> 'mod_test',
			'version'	=> '1.0.1',
			'file'		=> array('test.com', 'updatecheck', 'mods101.xml'),
		);
	}
}
But it seem to be bullshit. :D

Whoa! been a while since I checked this topic.
Fantastic idea by Primehalo.
We are actually working on something that will have them all hosted on my server (at least anybody that wants it there)
and will also be able to choose to receive alerts when updates are available and you will be notified regardless of what you choose if there's a security update for a MOD… you won't be able to turn off those notifications :P
Lots of cool things planned :)

Yes. When you added the module, you needed to browse into one of the existing tabs. i.e. System

board3 Portal will support this useful mod with the next version. Thanks Handyman´! :)

A suggestion, to those mod authors, who work with version numbers in the DB for their mods:
I get the version number directly from the portal_config table, not "hardcoded".
It looks like this:

Code: Select all

    function version()
    {
        global $portal_config, $phpbb_root_path, $phpEx;
            include_once($phpbb_root_path . 'portal/includes/functions.' . $phpEx);
            $portal_config = obtain_portal_config();

        return array(
            'author'    => 'Saint_hh',
            'title'        => 'Board3 Portal',
            'tag'        => 'board3_portal',
            'version'    => $portal_config['portal_version'],
            'file'        => array('board3.de', 'updatecheck', 'board3_portal.xml'),
        );
    }

Re: MOD Version Check

Post by Amateuer »

ive try separate times to install the latest version of Mod Version Check 1.03 into my phpBB 3.02 forum. Without any succes i did got each time Module not accessible error message.

i did copy all 3 main folders ( adm, includes, language ) into my instalation folder and allow to ovveride existing files.

What iam notice whilest the last step of the installation is, the "Check for MOD Updates" option is not in the dropdown list of Automation!? What i have there is (just above "word censoring) ACP_MOD_VERSION_CHECK option.

btw: what should i do with the contrib foulder ant the modx.prosilver.en.XML & MOD_Version_Check.XML files which came also in the zip file?

thx in advance...

PS: sorry for my bad english.Newbie Turgay

You should read the MOD_Version_Check.XML (after opening in any browser) and then you will get the answers to your questions. You are seeing the ACP_MOD_VERSION_CHECK because you didn't upload the appropriate language files or didn't do the edits.

sorry, I didn't check the files, you are right, there are no edits. However, have you done the DIY Instructions? And to my last post, I wrote or, so did you upload the appropriate language folder? If you use another language then english, you have to copy the content of the language/en folder to your appropriate language folder. Then the ACP_MOD_VERSION_CHECK should change to "Check for MOD Updates".

aahh..ok let me check if it will works when i change the system lang. to default english. where can i find the lang pack? and do you mean i get the "Module not accessible" error message also due of the missing language folder?

EDIT: it was exactly how you told. Ive set my default language to english and i managed to install it. But this time, i could not enter it. Now the "Module not accessible" error message appears again :(

EDIT2: Thanks a lot wolfman...ive translate the info_acp_version_check.php file into my own language and put it into a seperate buildet folder. It works great now...
