Re: SEO MOD

Post by terryrw »

I ran the edits from the mod, I checked the .htaccess edit first and didn't get an error 404 message etc. I proceeded and made all the edits. Once my edits were made I went to view my forum, everything appeared to be working. My urls were displaying in .html format. So I thought I was golden.

Wrong, when I clicked on a Forum Category or topic I get this forum does not exist. ? What the???? Anyone seen this?

Thanks
Terry

I have installed this mod, and all works except for one bug:

When you are viewing a forum and there are unread threads you can click on the little orange folder to the left of the thread title in order to view the last unread post. A 404 error occurs when SEO mod is installed.

Does everyone have this problem?

I should add that I am using subsilver2

I would really like to install this mod but, being a bit of a noobie, have a couple of questions:

1. Does the mod change the names of urls that have already been generated or only work on topics created after it is installed?

2. I'm flummoxed by the first part of the edit in the instructions file:
SQL
Code: Select All

INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value, is_dynamic) VALUES ('seo_ext', 'html', 0);
What do I need to do with this?

Thanks in advance, Rich

Yes, everybody has this problem.
It's first priority for me to fix as soon as I get a moment… I'm on the road right now, so it will likely be early February when it's fixed.

This MOD uses UTF8, so it works with all languages.

it doesn't sound like that's this MOD we're talking about here.
This SEO MOD doesn't do anything to the profiles… there are other SEO MODs for phpBB3 that do change the profiles.

Handyman, could you explain how you are managing to get the copyright notice on the page footer to display? I ask, because it is broken into 2 lines instead of 1, and I'd like to fix this as it's wasting the look of my footer.

You should also reconsider having your copyright notice show in the footer like that. I'm sure you could imagine how the board's would look if every mod author decided to place a copyright credit in the footer.

I'm not complaining, I'm really just trying to raise the point with you and I do understand all the hard work you have put into this excellent mod.

I think I may use this mod, I have really good indexing of my site as is, but the footer site map is kind of shifted. Http://superbowlforums.com if you notice its left justified i want it centered.

Also if I add this I would end up having to change all my links for the robots in the htaccess and the footer!

Ug you make me happy and sad.
