What did you do? Did you install the MOD 3 times? :shock:
No no...

I installed it one time and I always got one box on the top and on the bottom with a big blank space on the top...
I kept that more than one month... and was with the version 3.04

But this morining I read on the first page, a bug fixed on the 3.05 could resolvbe a blank page problem...
Then I updated to the version 3.06.
While the installe it found lot of file with modifications... Then I think it replace it...

Then...
I downloaded the last version of the quick reply after that...
And qhen starting the tutorial, all line I have to add or replace in each file was deleted O_o...

Then...
I did the tutorial one more time...

Does someone know in what file I could access to the page creation?
Maybe I could find my error and delete the 2 old QuickReply box... and this very big blank space too O_o...

:roll: difficult... :cry:

If the QR is only MOD on your board, the best thought could be to take the original viewtopic_body.html and edit it in according to the QR MOD installation instruction, but put

Code: Select all

<!-- IF QUICK_REPLY --><!-- INCLUDE quick_reply.html --><!-- ENDIF -->
code only 1 time and only at the bottom of the file.

I think I found my error...
Wishing to find the quick reply MOD on the forum phphbb I went in this section of the forum and found the "Quick reply for phpBB3" thread... then I thought it was my MOD because of the number of message and the name of the Thread....

But as you said I gave a look in the viewtopic_body.html file I did a research with "quick" word and I found this :

Code: Select all

	<!-- IF S_QR_ENABLED -->
		<div class="quick-reply-icon"><a href="javascript:toggle_quick_reply();" title="{L_QUICK_REPLY}"><span></span>{L_QUICK_REPLY}</a></div>
	<!-- ENDIF -->

Code: Select all

<!-- IF S_QR_ENABLED --><div class="quick-reply-icon"><a href="javascript:toggle_quick_reply();" title="{L_QUICK_REPLY}"><span></span>{L_QUICK_REPLY}</a></div><!-- ENDIF -->
	<!-- IF PAGINATION or TOTAL_POSTS -->
		<div class="pagination">
			{TOTAL_POSTS}
			<!-- IF PAGE_NUMBER --><!-- IF PAGINATION --> &bull; <a href="#" onclick="jumpto(); return false;" title="{L_JUMP_TO_PAGE}">{PAGE_NUMBER}</a> &bull; <span>{PAGINATION}</span><!-- ELSE --> &bull; {PAGE_NUMBER}<!-- ENDIF --><!-- ENDIF -->
		</div>
	<!-- ENDIF -->
Then I dleeted all quick reply limne in this page and finally delete the big blank space....

I done a google research with "javascript:toggle_quick_reply()" and I found the real MOD I installed from this forum....

Seems to be called "Evil Quick Reply".

Then really sorry for the lost of time....
I will extract his MOD and keep yours because adding the line as you said seem to not disturb the page... :oops:

Sorry gain

michaeldcoates wrote:Is this the same code i should 'Run SQL query/queries on database' in phpmyadmin if i have 3.0.6?
Didn't get the point fully. That SQL query is to enable QR for all already existing users. Infact, the query has to be different:

Code: Select all

'UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_options = 2048 | user_options'
Sorry, i wasn't terribly clear, i'll try again.

Original Quick Reply instructions for the includes/functions_user.php file...
Find - 'user_options' => 895,
Replace - 'user_options' => 2943,

I had a problem with the above line after i upgraded to phpbb 3.0.6 and came to this thread and saw that i needed to make a change to the includes/functions_user.php file...
Find - 'user_options' => 230271,
Replace - 'user_options' => 232319,

My query is thus: i would like my users to have the 'Display quick reply panel at topic view' in ucp default to 'yes' instead of 'no'.

I read here that i could run an SQL query on my database in phpmyadmin that would solve this issue i'm having but i'm not sure what it is and if the edits above would make it different.

Thanks for reading
Michael

ps, i may be stupid but i see people talking about a control panel for quick reply in ACP but i can't find it, can someone please point me in the right direction?

Sorry, I'm sleeping sometimes :)
Well, to make QR to be enabled by default for newly registering users, you do

Code: Select all

'user_options' => 232319,
To enable it for already registered users, you run SQL query

Code: Select all

'UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_options = 2048 | user_options'

Did you run install.php script (see the link here)?

Sure. Open includes/quick_reply.php and put in comment the following code

Code: Select all

	if ($mode == 'reply')
	{
		$subject = ((strpos($main_data['topic_title'], 'Re: ') !== 0) ? 'Re: ' : '') . censor_text($main_data['topic_title']);
	}
I did this, even tried deleting the code block altogether. I have purged cache, even refreshed template.
I am not getting any errors, but this is not working: I still see the default subject line in the quick reply box.

Is there another file I need to edit? Please help.

Thanks very much for your help, one last question, does the query i run had the ' ' bits in it at the start and end or is it just - UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_options = 2048 | user_options - i know that sounds daft but i don't wanna mess it up. I'll look into the install file, is it ok to run that after i've made all the other changes already or should i have done it first?

Thanks again mate, much appreciated.

Nope I guess :)

Exactly.
Michlerish wrote:3.0.6
Well, that version has it's own QR built-in. Thus it's viewtopic.php has the code to define $subject, that redefines the one from the quick_reply.php from this MOD.
So, if you want to get rid of subject filling for QR, try the following trick:

Code: Select all

OPEN
viewtopic.php

FIND
'SUBJECT'                                => 'Re: ' . censor_text($topic_data['topic_title']),

REPLACE WITH
'SUBJECT'                                => '',

Works for me. A change does need to be made to the install instructions.

Old instructions:
OPEN includes/functions_user.php
FIND

Code: Select all

		'user_options'		=> 895,
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

		'user_options'		=> 2943,
New Instructions:
OPEN includes/functions_user.php
FIND

Code: Select all

		'user_options'		=> 230271,
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

		'user_options'		=> 232319,
Thank you!

Hello rxu! I enjoy using this mod, and have installed it countless times before.

Unfortunately something seems to not work with my current situation. new forum, 3.0.6 (could it the reason), PHP 5.3.1.

The error displayed on the installer script is "No module found".

In regards to the installer, I tracked the problem down to line 173,

Code: Select all

if (sizeof($module_info))
Nothing is ever put into the array, it's empty and so the next else executes.

Going into the 'get_module_infos' method, around 577,

Code: Select all

			$class = $module_class . '_' . basename($module) . '_info';
This requests the class 'acp_quick_reply_info.php', but the one with the mod is of course 'acp_quick_reply.php'. I quickly had a look at previous versions of phpbb, and saw that this has always been the same - which made me very curious as to what's going on.

This causes the next if block, to never execute:

Code: Select all

if (class_exists($class))
I temporarily removed the '_info' part from the abode line, and then the error it gave me was that the module() method did not exist in the class, in the file included - which surely enough it did not.

I thought it may be something to do with php 5.3.x. My server has several PHP versions, so I quickly enabled 5.2.x (11) to see if it makes a difference, and it did not.

I am curious as to how this is supposed to work and why it doesn't now.

Cheers

Hi Starcraftmazter,
Thank you for the kind words about this MOD.
And yes, PHP 5.3.1 could be the cause of failure. Please try this workaround with installation script before all.
