Hi, I followed the instructions on the install.xml but when I try to setup an announcement I get this following error:

General Error

function generate_smilies($mode, $forum_id, $acp_announce = false)
{
	global $auth, $db, $user, $config, $template;
	global $phpEx, $phpbb_root_path;

you doublechecked your edits? refreshed templates and purged cache? the announcement centre is set to show? if it still does not show, i would suspect an edit error and would ask you to post the overall_header.html code around the edit you made.

I know I'm being really dense here but I've followed the instructions in the xml but I can't find the Announcements Centre in the ACP. :oops:

a) Go to System in the ACP
b) Go To Administration Control Panel under Module Management
c) Go to .MODs
d) Go to the Add Module button
So far so good

e) Type in ACP Announcement Centre and click on Add New Module
It was prepopulated with the name so I clicked Add New Module

f) Make sure you create ACP Announcement Centre as a new Category and enable it
I went in afterwards and edited the type

g Click on the ACP Announcement Centre category
h) Go to the dropdown next to the Add Module button
i) Click on Announcement Centre in the dropdown
j) Click on the Add Module button next to the drop down
k) Once added, you need to click on the Enable link next to it
l) The enable should turn into disable

Did all that and now I have it there twice under .MODS

m) Click General
Does this mean click the General tab? I did this and nothing.

Can only find the Announcement Centre under .MODS.

How do I actually get into it?

hi,
hehe, i have a victim, have a look at this tutorial:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1149385

it explains the steps for the adding of modules.

if it is still unclear after that, let me know.

install/index.php has run OK.
The .mods. tab exists and i did fill all edits and activated the function, but on the announcement panel still doesn't appear.

What shall i do ?

First of all be sure your edits are correct. Secondly purge the cache & refresh your template. Thirdly try posting some announcement ... that may force it to show up. ;)

double check your overall_header.html edit mainly. as ifitaj said, make sure you refresh your templates/purge your cache. make sure it is switched on as it isnt by default if you use the install file.

"General Error
Language file info_acp_announcement_centre.php couldn't be opened."

Cheers
