Also would it be possible to have different settings for posts and pm's so people can enable one and disable the other?
Currently neither of these options are available, and I do not know when I will have a chance to even start working on adding new features to this MOD.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Seems to be working good for me.

set it to disabled by default for new users
That's too bad, I was hoping this would be just a small html change somewhere :( The problem is, it's happened several times that new users have replied to the email instead of to the pm because they didn't understand how it worked yet. In which case the pm+reply then goes to the mailbox of the admins. So we get to read these private messages that weren't intended for us, and we really prefer they stay private.

Think I am having the same problem as giles123

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Call to a member function alter_post_sql() on a non-object in /includes/functions_posting.php on line 1216

I've just finished installing the mod, and the topic notifications work fine!

I'm having a problem with the Private Message emails. They are delayed by as much as 5-10 minutes, and they are all coming through with the original notification email. I've cleared the cache, and checked my edits.

Is there something extra I need to do to get the PM notifications to work? I've checked this topic, and my mod package, but can't find any reference to anything...

I think you should post over on the Validated MOD post like I did.

Thanks for the Heads Up, K!

Aren't RC topics usually locked when a mod is validated and released?

Did you try using the solution I suggested for giles123?

Any ideas. I have checked all my files and everything seems to be there fine. I have even uploaded the users choice mod to see if that would help it work but it didnt make a difference. I have cleared the cache as well. I am using 3.0.4
I just downloaded and installed this MOD, am not getting any errors, but am experiencing the issue described above. Was this ever resolved, or a fix determined?

Many thanks,

Nathan

I'm getting that same fatal error and the code already had the "global $prime_notify;" above the error line. Any other suggestions? I'm using phpBB 3.0.6

Does anyone know of another MOD for this type of thing?

Re: [RC] Prime Notify - Put the message in notification emai

Ken, I wonder if there is a parameter that I could adjust that would limit the amount of text that is include in the notification email?

My board members are really pleased with this mod (as am I), but one consequence of using it is, as the members don't need to login to see the text of posts, they are a little less likely to get involved in the conversations. I think that a compromise would be to have a limit of how much of the text from the post is included in the email, finishing with a '...' and then the link to the post to encourage the member to login and read the rest. A static number of characters would work well as on my board it is the longer posts that are of greater interest than a cheerful on line comment that rarely needs replying to.

Is there anything in your mod that could be easily adapted to achieve this?

Thanks.
Martin
