Post by dieck »

Hi!
Like Kitties? :)

Modification Name: Asirra POST-intercepting CAPTCHA
Author: Marco Dieckhoff

Modification Description::
Asirra is a human interactive proof (HIP/CAPTCHA) that asks users to identify photos of cats and dogs. http://www.asirra.com

Modification Version:: 0.1 (already works in phpBB3 here)

Requirements: PHP5, curl/fopen to Asirra, Javascript

Features:
  • This class intercepts POST requests, stores them in a session and asks for an Asirra CAPTCHA test.
  • If successful, the POST action is resumed.
  • Success is stored in a Cookie to enable further webpage usage without being harassed by CAPTCHAs all the time.
Modification Download: http://code.google.com/p/asirra-php/

phpBB install guide included in INSTALL.txt

Light travels faster than sound.
That is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Might want to be a little more descriptive and use the template found here. The Google Code page has a pretty good description but if you save users some clicking they're usually more responsive ;)

I mentioned Assira in the Preventing Spam thread a while ago, I would be interested in testing something like this. :)

If it stops spam, then people will come. I can see your MOD becoming very successful.

I have a website that includes a PHPbb, but have no technical knowledge or skills. My interests are journalistic. I hire a web designer to take care of of the technical part of the site for me. The web designer is telling me

A. That he is not allowed to modify the PHPbb codes........... and B. That using ASIRRA on my site is physically impossible. Other than finding another techie, what do you suggest I do?
