Hello,
yellowpeter wrote:- iPhone app cost $2.99 from iTunes app store
Just for clarification, is the app store the only way to distribute this iPhone app?

Hi DavidIQ,

Yes it is for mass deployment - but we can also provide ad-hoc distribution for testing / pilot purpose. It is what we are doing now with some active forum owners want to try out the latest and greatest in alpha/beta release.

Here has more infomation about the app:

Alright. My only other question is why are you charging for it? According to this page, charging is optional.

Hi all,

Finally we get to finished the first version of phpBB MODE for iPhone native access. And we would like to extend the beta-test invitation to all forum owners here - if you have an iPhone (or one of your forum members has it) and is interested to try it out, please head to http://www.tapatalk.com/directory , and download the MOD there.

If you are in U.S. you can purchased the app from iTunes store at http://itunes.com/app/tapatalk or if you are not in U.S (or you are in US but want a beta testing copy for free to save youself $2.99) please PM me with your device UDID and your email, we will send you a copy to install and test.

Looking forward hearing from you!

Hi David,
The MOD itself is free and is open source - we charge a small fee ($2.99) at the iPhone side so hoping to recover the dev cost and the anticipated cost to host a server to run push notification service for forums.

I am glad to explain it in more details if needed.

Just a quick note to everyone - this plugin is readily available and is also under the GPL license - you can go ahead to http://tapatalk.com/directory to download the plugin and try it on your iphone. Drop us a mail and we will send you a beta app you can try it on.
