I'd love to make a suggestion. Being able to only make the bots post in certain sections of the forums would be great. I'm not exactly sure if its already possible by looking at:
Create forum (hiden) called 'bots'

Create subforum (hiden) called 'trigger by message' (case sensitive)

Create into 'trigger by message' new post
Write :
FIND : 'test'
DELAT : 1-3min
FORUM TARJET : test_forum

Replay this post
Write
BOTNAME : Hal9000
SEND : MESSAGE
But this kind of confused me more then it made sense.
Thanks in advance and keep it up.

Thanks for suggestion.

Actually, you can control it in the admin control panel. goto adm, in ".Mods'", in "forum tarjet", set with the numbers of your forums. Ex: this forum is 70. ([nourl]http://www.phpbb.com/community/posting. ... te&[b]f=70[/b]&p=10951685[/nourl])

forum tarjet : 70

Or with you want to set more forum, separete with comma.

By default, if you dont set it, all your forums is selected.

Thanks, I somehow overlooked that.
Also I did notice by using auto response with your test release that the bot reply ruins the layout as can been seen here and it posts in quote.

Thanks for your report.

I see the problem. :?

The problem is : <blockquote class="uncited"><div>Just need to test something quickly[/quote].....

Blockquote is open, but no close.

Your forum is traslating [ quote] -> <blockquote class="uncite"> but
Your forum isnot traslating [ /quote] -> </blockquote>, only when the bot isnot responding.
The minibot is responding in that case(the layout problem).

I am not sure what is really happening. But i get you a solution. (this is ugly solution)

in line 1036(file posting_bot.php).

FIND

$data2['message'] = '[quote:'.$data['bbcode_uid'].']'.$resto.'[/quote:'.$data['bbcode_uid'].']'.$alissa_re;

REPLACE WITH

$data2['message'] = $alissa_re;

When you have time try with it :

in line 1036(file posting_bot.php). (it coult be a nice solution :D , but untest)

FIND

$data2['message'] = '[quote:'.$data['bbcode_uid'].']'.$resto.'[/quote:'.$data['bbcode_uid'].']'.$alissa_re;

REPLACE WITH

$data2['message'] = '<blockquote class="uncited">'.$resto.'</blockquote>'.$alissa_re;

I recommend before that, you review your bbcode in the admin panel control.

I did it. It was so hard, but i did it. I realese the version 0.3.1, it is quite similar with 0.3.0, but i included modbo.xml and the addpost_bot.php was changed(only for tester).

Actually i see the writing modbot was easier than the file xml. :shock:

You're a champion! :D

I've done one package as ModX, and it can be confusing the first time... It won't be so hard next time, eh?

One tip. if you re-rewrite your post, the bot must re-rewrite its own post. Use this tip in order to repair your layout. :D

it is a really funny. I added in my bot, 2 nice skills. Search and Find by Internet.

When you ask :

"What is [1 word]?" the bot tries to find it by the internet.

and when you ask :

"what is [2 or more words]?" the bot searches in youtube and return a video.

Find and search could be similars, but no. In the first the bot tries to find that expresion.

[1 word] is a ....
[1 word] is an ....

by Searching, only return the query.

funny :D

I cant seem to get this to work at all. The ACP and the set up is confusing with little to no descriptions of what anything does or how to make it work right. I am giving up for now. Maybe I am missing something but I don't see any really good instructions for this at all. :(

Also, You modx file is no good. PM me as I have properly converted this to modx from your instructions from your site if you would like it. :)

Maybe you gentlemen can collaborate? Hippie459MN, maybe you'll share your efforts at packaging the instructions? ;)

I've managed to get the earlier version working with some tweaking, but I haven't had time for the newer one.

This could be lots of fun, but it needs to be properly documented and ModX'ed.

Just my $.02

Actually, you dont need to set nothing in ACP, the mod is ready to use, even if you didnt create account for the bots, the bots must reply your post.(as guest)

You are right, my instructions are bit confusing( :( ), and in ACP doesnt have any descriptions. You need to read all this thread in order to understand the mod. :o

And modx file was really hard to create, and i said "it was harder than to write the mod". :(. if you were not bother to write the modx file, you could write it ;) .

i want to write the other mod, could be you notice my forum has TTS tecnology, I am developing the flash version of TTS, if you have iexplore you can test the old tecnology in this site. In Flash doesnt have this problem. This TTS tecnology(flash version) has to problem, first the poor quality of the voice and second it is more, more, more dificult to insert in phpbb forum, no like modbot(you just only change 2 lines in posting.php and enjoy the mod). it is necesary to write modx file, and i dont like it. it is not funny for me. :(

by the way, i dont stop the development of this mod(modbot), but i am testing two important thing :

- who is online
hal9000, alissa, colossus, dani, ......

-teach the bot on your own forum :)

Here is the properly packaged modx install package I created. I also fixed a few spelling errors in the language file.

Just open the install.xml in your favorite web browser. I too the install dir from your web page.
If you would like me to change anything or add anything let me know and I can update it.

http://www.hippie459mn.com/downloads/Mo ... .1beta.zip

I hope this helps some people.

Also, I just have 1 bot that is a user that I created a while back that I would like to have as the bot. How do I go about setting it up so that user is the only bot and only replies in the one specified forum? I am still confused so bear with me. lol :oops:

As soon as I figure this out I can add better directions to the install file too if you like. :D

Should be:

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE `phpbb_posts` ADD post_bot_respond varchar(250) NULL default "";
As to why you don't get the question, I don't know. :?
I am guessing this needs to be changed as you mentioned? I used the phpbb_users sql when I installed this so I should change it to the phpbb_posts sql command right?

If so I will change it in the modx file also. :)
