Post by Hexcode » Sat Jan 09, 2010 10:18 pm

All forums use one phpBB installation, except the config / cache etc. these are created for each forum. This could be very helpful for me if translated to English. Hopefully there is someone fluent in German and English that can do this.

Anyway, I'll look through the code when I get the chance.

Is there a way to make it use directories instead of subdomains?

Main-Updates of phpBB should do by the normal phpBB Auto-Updater, this should be work.
And when there is a phpbb update I update the script with the new SQL-Changes.
For the hosting there aren't many files edited, the changes in phpBB are quiete simple.

For a while I had opened my own hosting site.
The auto-updater works great on it, but the styles I have to update manually whats often need some time to do this by 80 styles by hand, but the code of phpbb is updated simple.

I think this will work:

Open phpBB3/config.php and find

Code: Select all

$split = explode('.', $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);
if($split[0] == "http://" OR $split[0] == "www" OR $split[0]  == "http://www")
{
	$subdomain = $split[1];
	$domain = $split[2].".".$split[3];
}
else {
	$subdomain = $split[0];
	$domain = $split[1].".".$split[2];
}
replace with:

Code: Select all

$split = explode('/', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
$subdomain = $split[2];
Open phpBB3/includes/functions.php
Find:

Code: Select all

	// Datenbank Prefix auslesen
	$split = explode('.', $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);
	if($split[0] == "http://" OR $split[0] == "www" OR $split[0] == "http://www"){ $subdomain = $split[1];}
	else {
	$subdomain = $split[0];
}
replace with:

Code: Select all

$split = explode('/', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
$subdomain = $split[2];
Open phpBB3/includes/acm/acm_file.php
Find

Code: Select all

		$split = explode('.', $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);
		if($split[0] == "http://" OR $split[0] == "www" OR $split[0] == "http://www"){ $subdomain = $split[1];}
		else {
		$subdomain = $split[0];
		}
Replace with:

Code: Select all

$split = explode('/', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
$subdomain = $split[2];
Open the .htaccess in the Script-Root, not the .htaccess of the forum find:

Code: Select all

RewriteEngine On
and add after

Code: Select all

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^forum/(.*)$ /forum1/ [L]
I think that that should work, can someone test this? Because I don't have test it yet...

//Edit: After i have tested it now, it went something wrong with the htaccess... i have to search a better version of it

I think im going to implement a real template class ;)
The one out of phpBB http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1557455 is the best way I think^^
