Wow nice work, I planning to do something like what you're currently doing but instead switched to complete integration into codeigniter.

Are you still working on this? Perhaps we could share some of our code.
Show phpbb threads as html articles. V.5.03 Thanks Erik! (This will be updated constantly as I or others contribute...) This code is to be used on external HTML page, but if you want a template version see here.

This looks very nice. Only thing worth mentioning imo is that the index file contains alot of pages. this will cause problems with active menus. where only seperate files will be handled as seperate. like about.php and history.php. As i see it all the underpages uses index.php

Good luck. cant wait to try it out.

Since this is bridging two applications, you should probably add "[Bridge]" to the title so that it isn't thought as a simple MOD but a full bridge.

Anyway, looks like this will be helpful for those who wish to integrate between the CMS and phpBB.
Don't forget to smile today. :)

Sorry for the long lasting silence on this project. Certain unexpected things happened that kept me from releasing this package. More explanations and infos about the release date are in the latest MODxBB.net entry.

It is already finished and has been being tested on a site for months. I just didn't get to finish the manual. :/

Hmm it's in fact more than just a bridge. I thought the word "integration" in the topic would suffice. I might think of something more descriptive.

Thanks all for the feedback, very appreciated.

MODxBB.net runs the latest version of MODxBB with newest versions of both phpBB and MODx.
That site also serves as a live demo.

Yes, definitely. Since I am using it myself for two sites.

Hi N!Ce,

MODx CMS programmers are putting most of their current emphasis on the "Revolution" version of their CMS system, not the older "Evolution" version of their CMS system.

Have you tried integrating MODxBB to MODx Revolution? If yes, does it work? If no, are you working on it?

Thanks!

Dennis

Hi dtleahy,

thanks for your feedback. One of the reasons why I personally still prefer Evo over Revo, is because at least its back end runs a lot faster and smoother. It's also more mature and very reliable. Latter is the most important property a CMS needs to have (at least for me).

To get to your question, yes I thought about making a Revo version anyway. I promised to set up a poll in order to see if there is enough request for one, if yes I'd attempt getting one done. I would do that just for the community, since I for myself am very happy with the Evo version for now.

Unfortunately I had a very busy year also with some private issues that kept me from working on it, and it's just starting to get a bit better. Thus chances are good I will get to it in this month. However, before starting on a Revo version I would get the Evo one updated first.

Hi N!Ce,

All right, you talked me into it! :D (No, I talked myself into it.)

Let's do this thing!

Currently, your Integration/MOD is at:
Version: 0.9.4
Supports: phpBB 3.0.6 - 3.0.9 ; MODx Evolution 1.0.0 - 1.0.5

As of this writing, phpBB is 3.0.11 and MODx Evolution is 1.0.6

1.) Do I have to find archived copies of both pieces of software, to find the versions that you have linked?, or will it probably work but I'm "on my own" if I use newer versions?

2.) I know you're busy, and I don't mean to pressure you, but can I ask as of today, what do you think as far as a timeframe for updating the phpBB MOD (or the MODx Evolution "Extra")?

3.) Have you looked at the changelogs for both applications? (Maybe you'll get lucky and no changes have been made to the areas where the applications communicate.)

Thank you VERY much!

Dennis

Hi dtleahy,

as stated above I am going to start finishing the new version for Evo soon. Probably this weekend.
I indeed checked the changelog and already have a concept of how to proceed, I just lacked the time so far.

Thus my advice would be to wait a bit before installing it, if possible. ;)
