No.

E.G. only male carpenters from Berlin with a red car ;-) .
You can!
Makes me a bit confused now, bcs. a member-search normally never find posts.

Yes.

find posts ("you can")?

Would it be possible integrate this feature in a forthcoming release?
That is not an exotic request for a special type of forum :) .
The function would probably be used in every board with this mod.
I can not predict whether this is difficult or a 5min work.

Not really within the scope of this mod because as 4_seven says above:-
4_seven wrote: a member-search normally never find posts.
If you want something that returns the members' posts probably best to request it in the Mod requests section.

When I said 'You can' in response to this :-
Tobias Claren wrote:E.G. only male carpenters from Berlin with a red car .
I assumed that you were actually asking for members who met these criteria & you had cpfs for gender, occupation, location & car colour. This mod will work on multiple cpf searches.

If however you have a forum where members list the criteria within posts then obviously the normal phpBB search function will find these.

OK, I surrender to my fate.

With Scope you mean the coverage or Purpose of the mod?
This is not an argument ;-) .
This possibility would be 'only' an option.
Or can be switched off (or on) in the ACP.

Yes, I search for characteristics of members.
But not as a job board or for finding a partner.
It allows you to search for posts from users with specific background.
It is not primarily to make contact with these people.

If however you have a forum where members list the criteria within posts then obviously the normal phpBB search function will find these.
The members have to add the characteristics manually in their post?

This can be tens of characteristics.
This is very cumbersome (for both sides).

Visitors must know all the terms, they are searching for.
E.G.:
Vehicle: car, scooter, trike motorcycle, ...
Vehicle color: Red, Green, Blue ...
Occupation: baker, miller, carpenter, baker, roofer, a neurologist ...
Annual income: 5k-10k 10k-15k, 20k-25k, 25k-30k ...
Unemployed, Employed, civil servants ...

These search terms are too special, in that you can "accidentally" find.
Find the normal search function profile data under the user name/avatar?
And there are several names for one word.
And it must be the exact spelling and term are met.

E.G. in the german language a pediatrist (Pädiater) is commonly known as a "child doctor" (Kinderarzt), "Pädiater" is not unknown, but rarely used.
But a "woman doctor" (Frauenarzt) is just as well known as a gynecologist (Gynäkologe). Both words are used.

There are also male and female versions of work titles.

And newer state-licensed professional titles, instead of old names.

E.G.:
"Krankenschwester" (old word) means (exact translated) Sicks-Sister ("Sister" for Sick People).

Hundreds of years ago (before the hospitals), the nuns ("Sisters") took care of sick people.
Today, men do the same. But "brother" is unusual ("brothers" are only in a cloister).
Officially, "Gesundheits- und Krankenpfleger" and "Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegerin" (the suffix "in" stands for the female Version).
Very freely translated "health and sick keeper" or "health and sick keepernes".
And both forms with "in the surgical service" at the end.

If visitors can search freely, they can not find all the results.
That would be a "gambling" or "lottery".

Is there any other search mod that allows to serch the posts by profile fields?
Or a user search mod generated list, but a button to see the posts of this person.
To see the posts of a person, is an existing function in the normal search.
But not implemented in this (or other?) user Search.

Where exactly are you storing the characteristics that you are wanting to search on??

In self-created profile fields (dropdown boxes). The normal function of phpBB.

Currently I am looking for example for a (official) list of ALL jobs (for a dropdown box).
Crafting professions, office jobs, study professions (incl. e.g. all medical specialists), uniformed police, CID, border protection, special forces, secret services and so on.

Okay your options are to either use drop down boxes as I have outlined here:-
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2133967

Alternatively as you seem to have quite a number of CPFs then a number of options within each one you may be better off using 4_seven's mod here:-

With this mod here, I also search for members through dropdown boxes (?).

There is a "country" search field in this demo:
http://www.4seven.de/forum/media/member ... searchuser

Find this search (also in Search Custom Profile Field?) the single word "arzt" (medical doctor) in
"Facharzt/-ärztin - Frauenheilkunde und Geburtshilfe"?
Then, a "free text search" would a benefit.
The Searcher must not kow a special profession title. I would put all variants behind the official Title.
btw. I found a official list with 8767 profession titles  :
http://www.dkz.arbeitsagentur.de/berufe ... ungen.html

Can I display the seeker a dropdown box for search the country?

I dont see the difference of this two mods (manic2 and 4_seven).

Is it possible to search (with both mods) with "before"/"after" or "less than"/"equal to"/"more than" and the "sort by:" options like here?:
http://www.4seven.de/forum/media/member ... searchuser

Then, this demo is misleading.
Costs (how much?) are not mentioned there ;-) .

Can you continue the discussion in the appropriate thread for that mod:-

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2123947

Rather than here.

With thanks.

Nothing is misleading. These are default member search fields, which have nothing to do with phpbb3 cpf engine and its fields ;)

Hi mate,

Just wondered if you could help? I have installed 4_sevens version, but I actually split the cpf's up individually (Guessing like your mod) but the pagination does not hold values. If I search a cpf and there are two pages of 55 results for example, when I hit page '2' the 55 results then shows as all members.

Hope you know what I mean and can possibly shed some light?
