Hello,

I have noticed that when you change SHOW_PLACEHOLDER to false within includes/prime_trash_bin.php, if you then have a whole page within a topic of deleted posts it still allows the user to visit that page number in the topic but then doesn't show any posts.

Is it possible to change this behaviour so that when they view the topic it only loads the results for the appropriate posts, therefor showing the correct pagination and post count?

Thanks
I'm sure it could be done, but to be honest it's not very likely. Right now I have a whole lot of other projects that must take precedence.

Perhaps you could try installing it manually.

I just finished installing this mod and had no problems at all. I have tested it using all levels of permissions and I must say that it works Amazingly!

Thank you Prime for all of you hard work and all of the awesome mods you have released! :)

The only thing I need to change is the background color for the delete info boxes. My theme is loading it with off white, which would be fine for light color templates, but when my text is white on black, the off white background renders the text nearly invisible unless you highlight it. I'll start hunting and change the color value when I find it. :)

Thanks again PrimeHalo!!!

Hi. Prime.
I installed your mod, it worked fine, but only one problem, Under General > Board Settings > Trash Bin Forum, when I click it, it would show all my forums, but I can't select anyone of those, I only can setup to "Don\'t use a trash bin" option, How I need to do more?

Thanks.

Updated version to fix the bug where the last post info is not updated.

I don't know, I use the board's function to build that list of forums.

Thanks for the update. :) Now deleted last post doesn't show on the viewforum page and deleted messages doesn't count as a reply.

Hello,

It's a great MOD for administrators.

I have a few questions:

1. The MOD have any option to see all post that were deleted?

2. The MOD have an option to send a post to Trash Bin?

I will appreciate any answer 8-)

Best Regards

Alfredo

1. You mean all at once? No, nothing like that.
2. No, it does not have the option to split a post out of a topic and send just that post to the trash bin.

Only topics can be set to delete to the trash bin forum. Posts remain inline where they are in the topic.

This sounds like a really fantastic MOD! I'm also eyeballing Post Revisions.

I recently installed Soft Delete, but have discovered three issues that if left unsolved will make the MOD unusable for my community. Soft Delete does not leave any logs in the MCP or ACP, which can make it awkward to monitor. The skin I'm using, CA Black, does not color reported posts, which Soft Delete uses to mark deleted posts. For some reason, the skin is also not displaying the message Soft Delete appends to deleted messages that allow you to undelete them. Because of this, posts cannot be undeleted unless I swap over to proSilver. Without the post coloring or message, there is no way for mods/admins to tell what has been deleted. This is why I am considering Prime Trash Bin as an alternative, but I have a few questions.
  1. Are soft-deleted posts logged in either the MCP or ACP?
  2. The reason I chose Soft Delete over this at the start was due to Soft Delete having been validated. Why is this MOD still in Beta?
  3. The username/password (tester/tester) on your demo forum is not working. How is undeletion handled? Is it in viewtopic on a per-post basis, or can mass undelete be done through the MCP or ACP?
  4. I see deleted posts are colored gray. How is this executed? ACP color option, CSS, or something else? I hope my skin doesn't protest!

1. Yes, they are logged

2. Because I haven't submitted it yet.

3. Post-per-post basis, or using the MCP by checking all the posts in the topic that you want to undelete.

4. If I remember correctly, a class is added to the post and then the CSS stylesheet colors it based on that class.

Hi, primehalo!

I found serious problem with this MOD on my forum.
I'll try to explain it as a simple:

Let, I have topic whith 16 messages. 15 - on the first page and 1 - on the second.
Then, I do fake-delete some message on first page. (Counter of messages on topic decreased by 1).
After reload topic, I have only 1 page whith 15 messages (one of them shows as deleted).
16-th message I don't see at all!

Another simle:

Let, I have topic whith 17 messages. 15 - on the first page and 2 - on the second.
Then I do fake-delete 1 message on first page.
After reload, I have only 1 page whith 15 messages (one of them shows as deleted) and I have 2-nd page whith 170th message, but 16-th message I don't see at all too!

If I fake deleted second message, I will not be able to see 2 real messages.

But, if I change number of messages in topic table directly in DB from 15 (for the first simple after 1 fake-delete) to 16 - I can see all messages.

PhpBB 3.0.6
MOD 1.0.9
All changes, that a was do, I just checked accurately - I don't find any mistakes.
Can you help me?

P.S. sorry for my English.

Thank you very much for your prompt and ample reply, Primehalo, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. If I may impose upon that generosity but one more time...

I decided to uninstall Soft Delete and switch over to Prime Trash Bin, but have encountered a problem. I could manage reversal of all the file edits well enough, but was unsure how to undo the SQL changes. I figured they wouldn't harm anything if left alone. Nope! When trying to install Prime Trash Bin, I received a conflict error with two SQL entries.

What I'd like to know is if Soft Delete's additions match what Trash Bin needs, or if I must somehow remove Soft Delete's columns so Trash Bin can install correctly (I have asked this in Soft Delete's thread, but fear a response will not be forthcoming due to the author generally not giving complimentary support).

This is the code from Soft Delete's install.php:

Code: Select all

<?php
/**
*
* @package phpBB3 Soft Delete Install
* @copyright (c) 2007 EXreaction, Lithium Studios
* @license http://opensource.org/licenses/gpl-license.php GNU Public License
*
*/

// Stuff required to work with phpBB3
define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = ((isset($phpbb_root_path)) ? $phpbb_root_path : './');
$phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__, '.'), 1);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);

// Start session management
$user->session_begin();
$auth->acl($user->data);
$user->setup('common');
$user->add_lang('mods/soft_delete');

if ($user->data['user_type'] != USER_FOUNDER)
{
   trigger_error('FOUNDER_ONLY');
}

include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/db/db_tools.' . $phpEx);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/acp/auth.' . $phpEx);

$auth_admin = new auth_admin();
$db_tool = new phpbb_db_tools($db);

$db_tool->sql_column_add(POSTS_TABLE, 'post_deleted', array('UINT', 0));
$db_tool->sql_column_add(POSTS_TABLE, 'post_deleted_time', array('TIMESTAMP', 0));

$db_tool->sql_column_add(TOPICS_TABLE, 'topic_deleted', array('UINT', 0));
$db_tool->sql_column_add(TOPICS_TABLE, 'topic_deleted_time', array('TIMESTAMP', 0));
$db_tool->sql_column_add(TOPICS_TABLE, 'topic_deleted_reply_count', array('UINT', 0));

$db_tool->sql_column_add(FORUMS_TABLE, 'forum_deleted_topic_count', array('UINT', 0));
$db_tool->sql_column_add(FORUMS_TABLE, 'forum_deleted_reply_count', array('UINT', 0));

$permissions = array(
   'local'      => array(
      'm_harddelete',
   ),
   'global'   => array(
      'm_harddelete',
   )
);
$auth_admin->acl_add_option($permissions);

$cache->purge();

trigger_error('SOFT_DELETE_INSTALL_COMPLETE');
?>
Great, now I have another problem. Apparently AutoMod fully executed the SQL changes the first time I tried to install Trash Bin, and did not undo them like the file edits when I retreated back. I was going to fetch which tables were in conflict, only to find them all now claiming duplicates. Joy! Maybe this doesn't matter, though? :?
