Can anyone please help me out with the steps in installing this?

Open evaluate_topics.xml in Firefox :)

Hope this helps...

Hi,

the error was already corrected but I forgot to correct it in the ModX installation manual.
For this I won't release a new RC. I have updated the ZIP-File now. The error is here:

Open "styles/subsilver2/template/viewtopic_body.html"
Find "IF IF"
Replace with: "IF"

There is one IF too much...
You can look also in the new ModX installation manual under the first action for this template file.
Thanks for reporting this.

About the new features I will think. But first of all the basic features ;)

Hi,

I got the same error as "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in ...\includes\template.php(158) : eval()'d code on line 1"
How this problem was sorted out?

cotp wrote:I had modified your Rc1 a bit for my forum since I use a 1 out of 20 rating system. If someone is interested I could easily tell how to do it. (it rates out of 20 stars)

I also display the average next to the rating and I am working on a dropdown instead of radio buttons since 20 buttons would be too much ;)

Novan wrote:Hi,

I have just uploaded the RC2.
The installation ModX manual have been updated and corrected.
Now the Rating of the topic will also be shown in the Topic self.

To update from the RC1 to RC2 you must only copy my external modded files again and have a look at the viewtopic.php part of the ModX manual and it`s templates. The viewforum.php and it`s templates are untouched in the RC2.

@cotp:
please change "S_EVALUATION" to ".evaluation" in the IF statement. It is corrected in the RC2 ModX manual. To update the data beetween you old phpBB 2.0 Mod and this Mod you must easily transfer the Column data. I do not use the IP from the user because guests can't vote. Also it is not importantly to know when who exactly voted. I find it make this Mod much too blown up. It should be rather beautifully slim and only the really important bring along. Not so much scrap iron drum around…

Novan

Thanks for this feedback Novan, I tried your new version from scratch

I got a :

Code: Select all
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in C:\Program Files\wamp\www\phpBB3_rc5\includes\template.php(166) : eval()'d code on line 1

wonder why :(

Will keep looking for the bug...

Ah just some other ideas:
Another cool thing for next version could be:

1) Able to sort by best ranks
2) A seperate page to see top 10 or top 50 forum based, for example

Congrats on your work 8-)

Please let me know on which page the error arise.
I have looked again and fond another small typo in the template.
The ZIP-File is updated again now.

Search for: "IF.evaluation"
Replace with: "IF .evaluation"

There was missing a space between.

Still getting the parse error :(

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ELSE in C:\Program Files\wamp\www\phpBB3_rc5\includes\template.php(166) : eval()'d code on line 71

If I enter manually the data in the evaluation table, I can see the stars on viewforum page so I guess my problem comes with viewtopic page :(

The possible reason would be you have not assigned the permission for the forum to display the rating in it.

Just check if you have set the following for the forum you wanted the rating in it
Forum Permissions -> Select a forum -> select the gorup -> in the "posts" tab, set "Can topic evaluations see" to "Yes". Also in "Actions" tab, set "Can topics evaluate" to "Yes".

This was already done (I tried to set it for Administrators (since it is not by default  ), I did it for registered users, moderators and even for a specific user to see if the proble came from there...

after so many parse errors I had to uninstall the mod for now :(

PS: You did get it to work (RC2 ?)

Hi,

sorry for this RC2.
I have released RC3 now which is two times tested by me.
There should not be an template parse error included now.
The download link is in the first post in this topic.
There are also further information to RC3.

So just to clarify, you rate the topic, then it works out an average and gives the topic a score.

You still can't rate posts with this MOD, as you think a karma mod is suitable for that?

Anyone got a demo up yet?

Hi,

A demo is now availible. See my first posting in this topic there is a link and the login data for this specific account. With this account you can test it and see how the administration in the ACP Permissions work.

To conclude this MOD:
With this Mod you can rate/evaluate a hole topic and not every single post in an topic.
In my opinion all contents of a topic are to be evaluated and not whether possibly somebody writes a bad contribution in it or whether one does not like another, which wrote something in the topic. For personal evaluation of members or marking a contribution as very mismatching there is a karma mod better then this here.

Ah ah evaluation ;)

I installed it again Novan (man I guess I love it)

It still works on the viewforum (I had to rate a topic through phpmyadmin)
But still no sign at all of anything on my topic pages huh ? :?

Why is that do you think ?

Symptom: I can see the votes on viewforum but can't vote nor see them on viewtopic.

And yes I have necessary permissions (checked three times), and cleared the cache

Cotp

***EDIT***

Ah found something,
in RC3 you say:
Code: Select all
Find

Tip: This may be a partial find and not the whole line.
Code: Select All

$sql_array['WHERE'] .= ' AND (f.forum_id = t.forum_id';

Add before

Tip: Add these lines on a new blank line before the preceding line(s) to find.
Code: Select All

show_evaluation_options();

If I replace it with RC1 instruction I can now rate the topic (but still can't see the {EVALUATION_IMG} like in your DEMO):
Code: Select all
Find

Tip: This may be a partial find and not the whole line.
Code: Select All

We overwrite $_REQUEST['f'] if there is no forum specified

Add before

Tip: Add these lines on a new blank line before the preceding line(s) to find.
Code: Select All

show_evaluation_options();
