Sorry, it must be a dumb question: how do I install the mod? I uploaded the /root files into my /forum directory and then the /templates files into /styles (and also /forum, just in case). I installed the mod via the modx acp, I enabled all but no way to have the calendar on the forum :-(
I also cannot find how to create the database tables :oops:

I would start over with a backed up version of your database and files... I don't think you know what your doing yet, and it's best to start from scratch :D

Assuming everything from the zip file you downloaded is in a file called mod. You must first open mod/install.xml in your web browser and follow all of the steps listed. Next open mod/templates/prosilver.xml and follow all of those steps listed. The files in the mod/templates/prosilver directory go in your forum/styles/prosilver directory - they do not need to go into the root forum directory too ;)

kokoyaya, you really need a way to run the sql queries on your own. Something like phpMyAdmin or some other program. You cant depend on all mods to run sql stuff for you.

I am working on a freshly installed test forum and I get the following error when making the SQL changes:

Image

SQL query:

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `phpbb_calendar_event_types` (
`etype_id` tinyint( 3 ) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT ,
`etype_index` tinyint( 3 ) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`etype_full_name` varchar( 255 ) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL default '',
`etype_display_name` varchar( 255 ) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL default '',
`etype_color` varchar( 6 ) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL default '',
`etype_image` varchar( 255 ) NOT NULL ,
PRIMARY KEY ( `etype_id` )
)

MySQL said: Documentation
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'collate utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL default '',
`etype_display_

Any ideas?

No clue... I would have expected it to fail on

Code: Select all

`etype_full_name` varchar( 255 ) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL default '',
first since it's essentially the same line just with a different variable name... assuming things are handled in order, if the etype_full_name passed, there shouldn't have been any new errors in etype_display_name.

EDITED - wait a minute I just reread the error mesage it looks like it complained about the end of the etype_full_name definition leading to the start of the etype_display_name_defintion... let me do some digging. What type of database are you using?

Apparently the command is different for different database types. I looked at how my current phpbb_posts table defined the post_subject (since it's translateable text) and used that as my model when writing the SQL commands for the mod. Granted my database is MySQL 41, so if your system is not MySQL 41 that is likely the problem.

For example the following are used to define the post_subject in the phpbb_posts table on the different databases:
Firebird:

Code: Select all

post_subject VARCHAR(100) CHARACTER SET UTF8 DEFAULT '' NOT NULL COLLATE UNICODE,
Mssql:

Code: Select all

[post_subject] [varchar] (100) DEFAULT ('') NOT NULL ,
MySQL 40:

Code: Select all

post_subject blob NOT NULL,
MySQL 41:

Code: Select all

post_subject varchar(100) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci,
Oracle:

Code: Select all

post_subject varchar2(300) DEFAULT '' ,
Postgres:

Code: Select all

post_subject varchar(100) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
Sqlite:

Code: Select all

post_subject text(65535) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
Therefore I believe the commands should change to something more like this depending on your platform (but be warned I don't know much about the other systems and haven't tested them - hopefully others can confirm these):
Firebird:

Code: Select all

etype_full_name VARCHAR(255) CHARACTER SET UTF8 DEFAULT '' NOT NULL COLLATE UNICODE,
Mssql:

Code: Select all

[etype_full_name] [varchar] (255) DEFAULT ('') NOT NULL ,
MySQL 40:

Code: Select all

etype_full_name blob NOT NULL,
MySQL 41:

Code: Select all

etype_full_name varchar(255) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci,
Oracle:

Code: Select all

etype_full_name varchar2(765) DEFAULT '' ,
Postgres:

Code: Select all

etype_full_name varchar(255) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
Sqlite:

Code: Select all

etype_full_name text(167115) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',

So for MySQL 4.0 the line that says:

`etype_full_name` varchar(255) character set utf8 collate utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL default '',

should be changed to:

`etype_full_name` blob NOT NULL,

???

I tried this for MySQL 4.0 and it worked fine:

Code: Select all

INSERT INTO phpbb_acl_options (auth_option, is_global, is_local, founder_only) VALUES ('a_calendar', 1, 0, 0),

('u_calendar_view_events', 1, 0, 0),
('u_calendar_create_events', 1, 0, 0),
('u_calendar_edit_events', 1, 0, 0),
('u_calendar_delete_events', 1, 0, 0);

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `phpbb_calendar_config`;
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `phpbb_calendar_config` (
  `config_name` varchar(255) NOT NULL,
  `config_value` varchar(255) NOT NULL
);

INSERT INTO `phpbb_calendar_config` (`config_name`, `config_value`) VALUES
('first_day_of_week', '0'),
('index_display_week', '0'),
('index_display_next_events', '5'),
('hour_mode', '12'),
('display_truncated_name', '0');

  `etype_display_name` blob NOT NULL,
  `etype_color` blob NOT NULL,
  `etype_image` varchar(255) NOT NULL,
  PRIMARY KEY  (`etype_id`)
);

INSERT INTO `phpbb_calendar_event_types` (`etype_id`,`etype_index`,`etype_full_name`,`etype_display_name`,`etype_color`,`etype_image`) VALUES
 (1,1,'Generic Event','','','');

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `phpbb_calendar_events`;

It's not only bugs and problems!
I have this mod working perfectly now on my >>> forum/site <<<.
I am using my own PA style based on the "Inspiration Theme By Echo -=Designs By Echo=- © 2007 Echo"
I also have this mod working for 99% in dutch language!

So, many thanks for this great mod.

By the way, I am a newbe so my level of skills is low to medium. :roll:
<< edit >>
Newbe on phpBB and forumsoftware. Not on HTML etc.

I have no idea what that would take - there are many other enhancement requests that are higher on the list ;)

Did somebody already install a working version of this fantastic mod on the acidtech theme? I really would like to install it in a acidtech and acidtechred themed board.

Please let me know if you did and how you did it ;)

Grtz,

Nic

What you can doe is run a second forum in your present forum.
Call this testforum or whatever.
Create a new database just for that socond forum and install all the stuf you have on the original forum.
Than you can start installing this mod and test it until you're shure it's ok!

After that you install the mod on the live forum and you are ready! :lol:

alightner,
what about this :D
I can't find settings for that

And can you provide some upgrade instruction with new release, please :)
alightner wrote:I think we're comparing apples to oranges here.
From what I understand sotis got the formatting changes to work when viewing an event in the week or day display... however on the day display I have headers at the top of the table that mark 12 am, 1am, etc. up to 11pm. He wants the headers to change to 0-23 hours. I can add an option in the calendar settings to do that. Also in event creation on my calendar I currently have the time in the pulldown menus listed from 00 to 23 for the hours. If I add the ACP option to switch between the 0-23 format and am/pm format it will effect both places.
