Thinks Nick. That is what I'm trying to check right now. I may have made an error, and used the prosilver, instead of the subsilver2 instructions. It was late, and I should have stopped, and finished today.

I was thinking, the recent block showing recent images which I now have on my index page, it takes up too much space only displaying 4 images. It is the text that is taking up too much space. Maybe someone with some skills could slim it a bit and make it more modern so to speak.

Also, I installed this mod on another fresh forum install (also with the progray template) and same problem with buttons there.

Well Nick, I started from the beginning, and went over everyone of them, and I did find a couple that were not correct that I did. That's what I have been doing all day. I refreshed everything, and when I go to the site link, I get exactly the same thing. Now I'm stumped.

Note: Line numbers sure would make it a little easier to find the proper spots. I saw 20 mins for install, or 2 hours, but for a newbe like me...no way...

I feel your pain, DennyW. I HAVE been exactly where you are now - many of us have. I did something similar to what you've done just a couple of months ago, and I had to have my ISP dig up an appropriate backup to my database. I have news for you... You can't refresh anything in your database's templates, themes, etc., if you can't log into your site. So it's possible you are locked out until things can be put back.

Perhaps there's a way to refresh things with a MySQL query?

I am fortunate, in that I use a locally-based, friendly ISP for my site host. I hope it's as easy as that for you. On the other hand, I could be totally wrong about your situation at this point. Hopefully, you can get it resolved soon.

(Edit, five minutes later: Maybe somebody more familiar with the phpbb system could answer this... Is it possible to delete your template and theme cache via FTP? If so, I'd try that)

Thanks. I can see all my files on my isp in cpanel. I was now checking that. The passwords and so on seem intact. I haven't given up yet... And I tried so hard Not to rush, and get it right... :D

I can open, and or move any files around. I just have to figure out what I did to myself...

I can't remember the directory structure of phpBB3, but if i recall, there's a cache folder (not the gallery cache) that you might try removing the contents of first. There's probably a blank index.html file there that needs to stay as an index place-holder. The db isn't going to access the NEW files that you uploaded earlier today until you get rid of the ones that are cached.

It's worth a try.

All,

Im thinking about installing the Highslide mod. now i understand this is compatible. Im assuming this is the right one? http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 5&start=30

My question is! this mod seems to have its own gallery?? i dont want to confuse anyone by having two gallerys? how will this intergrate?

Thanks

That is the right one and it doesn't have it's own gallery! ;)

Thanks nick,

Im hoping that this high slide mod will cure the problem i currently have in that the viewer that installs with gallery 0.4.1 is not working when use the album bb code. it inserts the thumbnail ok.. but upon clicking it just opens a white box with a close option. no image is displayed??

I also have another question for you, I have posted on your forums also. Im not able to edit other users uploaded images. i have set permissions for admin yes on everything.. including personal albums but still unable to edit user uploads?

Thanks

Andy

Ok update.

I tried the highslide on test forum. it dont fix my issue?

So issues i have.

Admin has no edit function on user uploaded images in gallery.

And images inserted to main forum using album tags not working, thumbnail is displayed but upon clicking the thumbnail plain white box opens without image?

I did wonder if it was the code the album bb code section. i took a look but im not to sure?

Code: Select all

<a rel="lytebox" class="image-resize" href="http://www.thecampingforum.co.uk/forum/gallery/image.php?image_id={NUMBER}"><img src="http://www.thecampingforum.co.uk/forum/gallery/image.php?mode=thumbnail&image_id={NUMBER}" alt="{NUMBER}" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.thecampingforum.co.uk/forum/gallery/image_page.php?image_id={NUMBER}">{NUMBER}</a>
Edit, First issue i have solved with a work around, i have removed the rel-lytebox "blah blah bit, and change the image.php to image_page.php so the link directs to the page rather than lytbox.. im cool with that.

Just the second issue now? which for some reason i forgot to add?

I have no access as admin to edit other peoples uploaded images despite setting the permissions to all for admin?

Edit no. 2! Ok so i have also solved the permissions issue with admin not being able to edit other user uploads. it seems if you set the permissions for registered users to edit their images then admin right is then lost? as soon as i removed registered user from being able to edit it. admin had the option to do so a little strange? 8-)

Please advise

Thanks

I need a bit of help in the installation process of this Mod. I never installed a Mod before. I opened up the install.xml file and read through it. Am I suppose to upload the all the files first and then edit and reupload them or do I have to go to the install directory in my browser? Not sure what's the correct procedures! Thanks!! I am using a theme called "Proglass" Would this affect my installation/theme when installed?

I host my own server, so I don't normally have these questions...

What I do is to make all the file edits, then copy the new files from the distribution to their new home, and last, do the SQL calls.

This mod is a little more involved than some, so you might wish to try your teeth on a simpler one. You can get a feel for the process that will help immensely when you install a more complicated package.

Just my 2 cents... :D

so the steps are:
(1) Upload all the files into the root directory of the forum?
(2) Edit the files and reupload them
?

Thanks!

Veesterr,

If it helps this was the first mod i ever installed. and despite fears it was pretty easy looks worse than it is!

My process was as follows.

First i created a new phpbb3 forum within a new folder on my server, so /testforum if you like. I then applied the theme that i was using generated a couple of forums and a few threads.. this way i was working within an area i could remove if all went bad.

I uploaded all the files as detailed in install.xml

I downloaded notepad++ Donwload here as i had read others were using this as a better alternative to normal notepad and dreamweaver is advised against.

I then told filezilla to use notepad ++ for edits.

Wend down the lists of eddits locating the file name within the correct location, right click and edit. make edit save close, filezilla then prompts you to re-upload the file. continued through all the edits.

borwosed to myspace/forum/install as per process

purge the cache

all done!

set up some galleries uploaded some photos made a few comments.. just to check all was ok

Then did the whole process again on the correct forum.

I'v left the the test forum up so that i can do the same with other mods :)

I only had one issue with the process and that was that i had to copy the launguage files to both the en folder and us_en folder which the guys here hleped to point out to me.

Oh and with the file uploads i simply changed the location of the files that were to be upped to the prosilver folder and upped them to my chosen style folder instead (remember if eddits are done in prosilver location you need to substitute the location for your chosen theme)

Hoenstly do it in test first! it gets rid of the fear!
