When searching now, I'm getting "No suitable matches were found." some of the time. I will try to get more feedback as to when this seems to be happening.

Hi

I had to manually delete the contents of the 2 directories I created ie config and data before search would work.

Confirmed as having to remove the previous /data files, but once done and re indexed ... brilliant :)

Is there a way to reduce how often the indexer -- rotate runs.

It appears to run frequently (twice an hour?) causing cpu load @ 100% that slows the board down - 256 mem limit set. this is on a test 2.9 GB database.

Wondering if or where I could change it to run once per 6 hrs or more? - or even a slower indexing process.

cheers,
oddfish.

Hi,

I've installed it on phpbb 3.0.2 / linux / sphinx 0.9.8.1
The index process seems to work well (data directory is filled)
But when I type any word in the search field on the board, there is always the same message : no results...

I read on this topic to empty the dir data then retry and it's ok, but not form me, always not working... :(

In the logs I have :
[Wed Nov 19 15:33:17.278 2008] [ 5806] failed to bind on 127.0.0.1:3312, retrying...

Do I missed something?

Thanks

For now you will have to manually increase the value for search_gc in the config table (it's the number of seconds between each run).

That message indicates that something else is occupying port 3312. Make sure no searchd processes are running, and then try searching. If another application is using the port, select a different one in the ACP.

naderman wrote: Normally there should be a line saying something like

Code: Select all

disable_functions = [some comma seperated functions], exec, [more functions]
You need to remove exec from that list and it should work.
This line is blank for me:

Code: Select all

disable_functions =
Yet it says to me that:

Code: Select all

The sphinx plugin for phpBB requires PHP’s exec function which is disabled on your system.

Ok, correct, I put an other port and now it's ok.
Thanks.

Your webserver might not have the necessary permissions to run "whereis" or that programme might not be installed at all? If you su into the webserver account, can you run the following command?

Code: Select all

whereis -b indexer
If that works, what is the output?
