Re: [RC2]RSS Feed

Post by SHIVA_ »

I just tried this mod on a 3.0.2 and it locked me out of the ACP. I had to remove it.

So, here's an idea and please consider it. On the 2.0.X boards (I ran one for 4 years until yesterday when I converted to 3.0.X) the rss feed was http://www.forumname.com/forum/rss.php and for a few years all RSS feeds are automatically feeding off of this file. Why change the file name to forumrss.php :?: Please correct me if I'm wrong, but we are just asking for trouble and many hours of correction if we use forumrss.php.

Please let me know your thoughts ASAP (this is a badly needed mod) and any advice. Many thanks, S

Hello, could someone please post the correct code for the php file to get this to show ONLY Topics from 1 forum? The forum id I would like it to show is 146.

Thanx in advance for your help.

I ended up using this mod below and it's been working fine and it uses rss.php as default file.

How'd you do that? I'm having the same problem.

Joe, i have a problem with this mod.

It looks like it's this piece of code:

Code: Select all

//gather extra information on each post

                $sql_view_post ="SELECT * FROM " . POSTS_TABLE . "

                WHERE post_time = ". $row['post_time'] . "";

                 $res_views_post = $db->sql_query($sql_view_post);

                 $row_views_post = $db->sql_fetchrow($res_views_post);

                 $sql_view ="SELECT * FROM " . TOPICS_TABLE . "

                 WHERE topic_id = ". $row['topic_id'] . "";

                $res_views = $db->sql_query($sql_view);

                $row_views = $db->sql_fetchrow($res_views);

                $sql_tracking ="SELECT * FROM " . TOPICS_TRACK_TABLE . "

                WHERE topic_id = ". $row_views_post['topic_id'] . " AND user_id = " . $user->data['user_id'] . "";

                $tracking_views = $db->sql_query($sql_tracking);

                $tracking_row = $db->sql_fetchrow($tracking_views);

                $sql_session ="SELECT * FROM " . SESSIONS_TABLE . "

                WHERE session_user_id = ". $user->data['user_id'] . "";

                $res_session = $db->sql_query($sql_session);

                $row_session = $db->sql_fetchrow($res_session);

                $forum_id = $row['forum_id'];

                $rowset = $announcement_list = $topic_list = $global_announce_list = array();
I'm using the latest version of your mod:

Code: Select all

    * @version $Id: rssforum.php,v 1.2.3 2008-06-22 13:48 joerobe Exp $
Our database server keeps getting loads of the queries to handle, and the server doesn't like it ;)

Some tips for fixing the timezone/dst issues:

after the line

Code: Select all

                $ids = $row["topic_id"];
add:

Code: Select all

				$tz = ($user->data['user_id'] != ANONYMOUS) ? strval(doubleval($user->data['user_timezone'])) : strval(doubleval($config['board_timezone']));
				if ($user->data['user_dst']) $tz = $tz + 1;
				$tz = $tz * 100;
then find

Code: Select all

$user->format_date($last_poster_time,"D, d M Y H:i:s T")
and replace with:

Code: Select all

$user->format_date($row_views_post["post_time"], "D, d M Y H:i:s") . ' ' . sprintf("%05d", $tz)
Now you'll have the proper timezone with dst in consideration
Got Wang?
