[ABD] Reimg Image Resizer (+ lightbox) 0.0.B8

Post by TaleTN » Sat Apr 19, 2008 8:02 pm

MOD Title: Reimg Image Resizer
MOD Description: Resizes user-posted images that are too large, optionally overlaying a zoom button to view the original-sized image (optionally in a lightbox).
MOD Version: 0.0.B8

MOD Download: See http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 5#p9576315
Last Stable version: - Beta 9

Demo Board: See http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 5#p9576315

MOD Format: MODX
phpBB Version: 3.0
Supported styles: prosilver, subsilver2
Supported languages: English, Dutch

Features:
  • Images are resized (downscaled) client-side using javascript.
  • Images don't first load in large format and then collapse, but instead appear only after they have been resized already.
  • An optional zoom button is overlayed on top of resized images, so you can click to the original-sized image. This button will not mess up a URL the poster might have placed around the image.
  • The original-sized image can open in the current window, in a new window, or in a cool lightbox. 8-)
  • Only user-posted images posted using Img BBCode and inline image attachments are resized. However, any other image can be resized (and/or equipped with a zoom button ) by adding class, onload and onerror to the <img> XHTML tag.
  • You can specify the maximum dimensions in pixels (e.g. 640x480) and/or a maximum relative width (e.g. 80%).
  • All settings (maximum dimensions, zooming method) can be changed from the Administration Control Panel.
  • This MOD comes with default, neutral style sheeting built in, so you don't need to alter all your theme files. However, you can override these defaults from within your theme files, and thus unleash your own style sheeting magic on the resized images.
  • Quick loading, jsstripped javascript files as well as full javascript source code files are included.
  • I've successfully tested this MOD in Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1, Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 2, Firefox 3 Beta 5, Safari 3.1, Opera 9.27 and Mozilla 1.7.
Issues:
  • This MOD uses the onload and onerror attributes on XHTML <img> tags, which is not allowed in both XHTML 1.0 Strict and Transitional. However, as mentioned before, it works on virually all popular browser software, and so it is not much of a problem in my opinion. It is also possible to deploy this MOD without onload and onerror if you need to stay 100% XHTML 1.0 compliant.
  • Safari and Opera currently do not always position the zoom in/out buttons on the right side when in right-to-left mode, but apart from that everything works fine. I am kind of hoping that these issues will be addressed in future releases of Safari and Opera...

Yeah I know, there are a number of javascript image resizers already out there, but I thought I could do better.  Of course I'll let you guys be the judge of that. ;)

It seems to work fine in my Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11. Lets see... Does the demo on my test board work for you (see http://www.taletn.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=18)?

You're using phpBB2, this MOD is intended for phpBB3 (assuming the board in your screenshot is the board you tried this MOD on)

Well spotted. :)

If you have followed all instructions to the letter, then it would surprise me if you are really running phpBB2 and not phpBB3. So, what version are you running?

I suggest you re-read my post before you take offense:

EDIT: You also said earlier you were using the FI SubIce style, which is only available for phpBB2, as far as I know. And the warez board is using that style

WELL in that case I take no offense HOWEVER...they did make a FISUBICE theme that worked on the phpbbRC3 that also works on gold.

AND YES I have a warez board that is 100% LEGAL and is hosted in another country where that type of baord is allowed...I wouldnt think it to be fair to discriminate over that when someone needs help!

Your help IS appreciated!

Thanks-ZERO

Is the board you have installed the MOD on a public board? If so, I can come over and have a look. Or else you could post your changed files here, one at the time. You could start with your template's overall_header.html, if that one checks out ok I'll ask you for another file.

EDIT: It just occurred to me that perhaps you have done nothing wrong, but you just have not set any options in the Administration Control Panel. You need to enter maximum dimensions and select a zooming option, or else nothing much will happen. You will find the image resize settings under Post settings in the Board configuration menu on on the General tab.

I have just uploaded a new release already, with a couple of minor issues fixed:
  • The shadowy background is now recalculated if you are already viewing an image in the lightbox while more images are still loading.
  • Fixed the height of the shadowy background of the lightbox in Opera.
  • Added a "safety net" to the javascript code, so large images that were somehow skipped are resized after the document has fully loaded.
  • Added the option to route the link to the original-sized image through my External URLs in New Window MOD (which I haven't published yet, but I will anytime soon). If this new zooming method ("external link") is selected and the user has chosen to open external links in a new window, then the images is also opened in a new window, else the image is opened in the current window.

hmmm I will try using ur newer version first...if that dont work I will go ahead and start posting the files u asked for. Like I said before it IS resizing the images to what I specify BUT theres no zoom option even when I click the pic. I have tried both zoom options in the ACP.

Also it only works in my FF browser... Im gonna try the latest one and post back here when I m done!

Thanks :)

OK sorry for bump BUT i wasnt sure if the writer of this mod had seen my prior post so I wanted to add a new one so they knew...

OK ummm I tried the newer version with only the same results as I stated b4...I really want this mod to work :)

I will pm you with a test account and a post for you to see what its doing...thanks ...

BTW I was able to fix the resize problem in IE. BUT I cant seem to get it to let me zoom on it no matter what!

Is there a option that have to enable Java or something in the ACP??
