Installation is one thing, but keeping it up to date is something else. My main concern would be any problems when updating Drupal or phpBB.
No need to worry about that
Lets say I install phpBB 3.0.5 with Drupal 6.14 and everything is working fine. What is the process of updating one or both when an update is released?
You can update drupal anytime, as long as the user system is not touched it will function like it has to be, the same thing goes for phpbb3.. and the phpbb3 needs only code to be added
and not replaced so updating phpbb3 is easy.
The phpBBforum module install process requires a patch to phpBB files. Doesn't that complicate or hinder updating phpBB and or Drupal?
it does not require to be patched! VB says it, but it's not required.. you only need to add code to functions_user.php in the phpbb3 includes dir, updating phpbb3 works like a charm and i can already tell you that the module works in phpbb 3.0.6 RC1
see the instructions here;
Code: Select all
when you've done them all correct it should work
